Identity theft

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone acquired the Social Security number of Wilfred Allen Henderson, 68, of 776 Twin Hill Road, and filed a federal income tax claim with the Internal Revenue Service. Police said the incident occurred March 16.

Burglary

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - George Martin, 59, of 1231 Mount Pleasant Road, told state police at Stonington someone entered his front door and stole jewelry and two handguns between 12:45 and 4 p.m. Wednesday.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ryan Wendell, 23, of Millersburg, will be charged by Trooper David Boucher of state police at Stonington for driving under the influence of alcohol relating to an incident at 12:54 a.m. Thursday along Route 61, just east of Route 225 in Coal Township.

Upon stopping to see if Wendell needed assistance with a flat tire, Boucher said he smelled a strong odor of alcohol. A field sobriety test was conducted and Wendell was taken into custody. He refused to submit to a blood test.

Route 61 accident

COAL TOWNSHIP - Nathan Hinkle, 22, of 51 Church St., Locust Gap, escaped injury in a one-vehicle accident at 6 a.m. Thursday on Route 61 near East End Automotive. Patrolman Chris Lapotsky said Hinkle was driving south when he lost control of his vehicle, which struck a utility pole on the side of the highway. Hinkle's vehicle sustained severe damage and was towed from the scene.

Personnel from Coal Township fire and AREA Services Ambulance assisted.
