Police car in wreck
COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in an minor crash involving a Coal Township police vehicle at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Police said Officer Christopher Williams was traveling north up Woodlawn Avenue on the snow-covered road when his patrol car began to slide backward and struck another vehicle, operated by Michelle Blessing, 35, of 435 Center St., that was stopped on the road because of another accident.
Both vehicles sustained minor damage.
Vehicle struck twice
COAL TOWNSHIP - A local woman was not injured after her vehicle was struck twice in separate crashes at 7:30 a.m. Tuesday on Woodlawn Avenue.
Autumn Breslin, of 1607 W. Independence St., told police she was traveling south on Woodlawn Avenue. A vehicle in front of her was traveling slowly because of the snow and ice-covered roadway. Breslin told police she then slid into the rear of this vehicle.
Another vehicle, also traveling south on Woodlawn Avenue, slid into her vehicle. Breslin and the driver from the first accident exchanged information and resolved the matter privately. The driver of the second vehicle, which struck Breslin's vehicle in the rear, left the scene without speaking to her.
Breslin was not injured in the crash and her vehicle sustained minor damage.
Two-vehicle crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two vehicles sustained light damage in a crash at 7:33 a.m. in the area of Water Street and Woodlawn Avenue Tuesday.
Police report a Dodge automobile, driven by Sandra Catino, of 802 N. Sixth St., Shamokin, was traveling south on Woodlawn Avenue and slid on the snow and ice-covered roadway, striking a parked 2004 Toyota automobile registered to Paul Eby, of 517 Kulp Ave.
DUI charges
COAL TOWNSHIP - Andrew Popiel, 30, of 400 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving involving a Dec. 20 accident at the intersection of Route 901 and Lower Excelsior Road.
Police reported Popiel had a blood-alcohol content of .137 percent.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has charged Jaime D. Gledhill, 33, of 67 S. Oak St., Coal Township, and Timothy W. Piper, 42, of 427 N. Washington St., Shamokin, with retail theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly stealing $246.99 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter Dec. 24.

SHAMOKIN - Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III charged Brenda J. Snyder, 49, of 1123 W. Water St., Coal Township, with retail theft.
Police reported Snyder is accused of stealing body jewelry, a glass smoking pipe, Pink Floyd collection tin and other products valued at $218 from Dragonfly Novelties LLC, 527 N. Market St.
