Car hits embankment

COAL TOWNSHIP - Tyler Lenig, 27, of Shamokin, escaped injury late Monday night in a one-car crash on Route 125 near Point Breeze Road.

Patrolman Terry Ketchem reported Lenig was driving a silver, 2000 Volkswagen Jetta south at 11 p.m. when his auto struck an embankment, causing the vehicle to overturn and come to rest in the middle of the southbound lane.

The auto sustained heavy damage and was towed from the scene by Jeff's Towing.

Assisting Ketchem were Coal Township Patrolman David Sage, township fire chiefs and firefighters.

The accident remains under investigation.

Simple assault

COAL TOWNSHIP - Gloria Saladonis, 43, of 517 Main St., Ranshaw, was charged by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky with simple assault and harassment involving an Oct. 17 incident at Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Overlook Ridge, Apt. 8.

Police reported Saladonis hit resident Lottie Haude, 97, several times, yelled at her and called her an obscenity. Haude was not injured in the 7:15 a.m. disturbance.

Public nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has charged Miguel A. Gonzalez, 36, of Brooklyn, N.Y., with causing a public nuisance by continually allowing a property he owns at 415 S. Market St. to be in danger of collapse.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, shingles and other roof materials are falling from the building and the roof and exterior walls are deteriorating. There is broken glass at the building and the rear porch is unsecured and dangerous to walk on. The chimney and wooden eaves are damaged and eaves are falling from the structure.

Harassment

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - Charges of harassment and criminal mischief have been filed by state police at Lykens against Mark Eugene Yerger Jr., 29, of Herndon.

Police reported Yerger threw a rock at a vehicle occupied by a 29-year-old Lykens woman as she attempted to leave the 2500 block of Klingerstown Road at noon Nov. 5. The rock struck the vehicle, causing damage to a side window.

The victim, who was not identified by police, then drove to the state police station at Lykens and reported the incident.

Bad check

MOUNT CARMEL - Jane E. Madrak, 56, of 945 W. Pine St., Coal Township, was arraigned Wednesday afternoon by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on a bad check charge.

Madrak is charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with issuing a bad check in the amount of $380 to Expert Charm Furniture owned by Albert Corbacio on March 21.
