LCB violations

SUNBURY - The Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited Goodwill Hose Co. Inc., 500 Reagan St., Sunbury, for failing to maintain complete and truthful records covering business operations for a period of two years immediately preceding Oct. 16, concerning the local option of Small Games of Chance Act.

The citation was issued Nov. 13.

On Thursday, the bureau cited Brewers Outlet, 231 Reagan St., Sunbury, for sales to minors.

The charges will be brought before an administrative law judge who has the authority to impose penalties ranging from $50 to $1,000 for minor offenses and up to $5,000 for more serious offenses. The judge can also impose a license suspension or revocation of the license based on the severity of the charge.

Burglary charges

TOWER CITY - Bradley Merwine, 35, of Donaldson, and Jeff Leach, 34, of Coal Township, have been charged by state police at Schuylkill Haven with burglary-related offenses in connection with a break-in at a garage owned by Robert Madenford, 43, of Tower City.

Police said Merwine and Leach are accused of gaining entry into the garage at 253 Main St. between 8 p.m. July 4 and 1 p.m. July 5 and stealing several tools, including a Bostich air-powered roofing nailer, a black air compressor with two wheels, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered impact wrench, a blue and silver Campbell Hausfeld ½-inch air-powered ratchet, a yellow electric stick welder, a diamond-plated tool box and a Black and Decker 3.5-amp variable speed jigsaw.

Police said the burglars fled on foot through a wooded trail with the stolen items that were eventually brought to 288 Main St. and hidden in several locations on the property.

As of Friday, the yellow electric welder, black air compressor and variable speed jigsaw have been recovered.

Burglary

BUFFALO TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton reported someone stole a bag containing approximately $900 worth of hunting supplies owned by Randall Rebuck, 61, of Sunbury, from W.H. Troup Road between Nov. 16 and Thursday.

DUI

LOST CREEK - Michell M. Houtz, 40, of Ashland, was charged by state police at Frackville with driving under the influence of alcohol relating to a traffic stop at 11:10 p.m. Friday on Route 54 in this Schuylkill County village.

Sobriety checkpoints

COAL TOWNSHIP - The North Central Highway Safety Network's Regional DUI Enforcement Group and Coal Township police announced roving patrols or sobriety checkpoints will be conducted this week on Routes 61, 225, 125, 54, 487, 901 and 147 or other connecting roadways to municipalities.

Travelers are reminded to report drunk drivers by dialing 911. To report underage drinking, call 1-888-under-21.

The roving patrols and checkpoints are funded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation and National Highway Safety Administration.
