Three-vehicle crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police are continuing their investigation into an accident just after midnight Sunday involving three vehicles and a utility pole in the 900 block of West Arch Street.
Patrolman Jason Adams reported Brian Drust, 34, of Coal Township, was driving a 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee west when his vehicle struck a parked black Jeep Cherokee on the north side of the street. The impact caused the parked Jeep to strike a nearby utility pole and a red Geo Tracker parked in front of the black Jeep.
The pole was not damaged and the Tracker sustained moderate damage. The black Jeep and Drust's Jeep sustained extensive damage and were towed from the scene.
Drust was not injured.
Truck theft update
COAL TOWNSHIP - Harold John McGurl Jr., of Ashland, will be charged with theft-related offenses for allegedly stealing a black 2011 Chevrolet Silverado 2500 cab crew from B&L Chevrolet-Buick on Route 61 Friday.
Police said McGurl was allowed to take the truck valued at $45,000 for a test drive between 4:45 and 5 p.m., but failed to return the vehicle to the dealership.
The truck was recovered by Pottsville police at 10 p.m. Friday and McGurl was taken into custody without incident. He was incarcerated in Schuylkill County Prison on a bench warrant issued Sept. 29 for failing to appear in Schuylkill County Court on charges of theft by unlawful taking and criminal mischief, according to court documents.
He had been released from prison Feb. 27 on $5,000 unsecured bail.
According to court documents, McGurl was also charged by police with violating a protection from abuse order for an Aug. 25 incident.
Citations
COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich cited James Hoffman, of 1040 W. Arch St., Coal Township, for having high brush, grass and weeds in a backyard at a property he owns at 1308 W. Independence St.
Petrovich also cited Nicole Hart, of 1546 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, for allowing rubbish to accumulate at the back and side of her home and having a dead cat on her front porch.
The citations were issued Nov. 17.
Window shot
LYKENS - State police said a bullet was shot through an upstairs bedroom window and landed on the dresser of Edward Andrew Lasalle, 41, of 436 Henniger Road, Mifflin Township, sometime between Oct 31, 2012, and Oct. 31, 2014.
