Theft-related charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jeffry J. Grassi, 21, of 219 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and scattering rubbish.

Police reported Grassi allegedly stole several car rims and vehicle parts valued at approximately $200 from land owned by Kenneth Snyder on Big Mountain Aug. 28 and sold them for $63.37 at Stoneroad Iron and Metal in Paxinos.

Police said Grassi also placed tires that were cut from rims, waste paper, diapers and garbage on Snyder's land.

Forgery

SHAMOKIN - Jesika McCann, 23, of 1008 N. Pearl St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman William Miner with forgery and theft.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, McCann stole a checkbook belonging to Josephine Markle and forged five checks totaling $190 at M&T Bank Oct. 1.

Drug charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Charges of possession of Tramdal, possession of Clonazepam and criminal trespass were filed by Patrolman Jason Adams against Daniel Malkoski, 18, of 1729 Park Ave., Coal Township.

Police reported Malkoski was found lying asleep face down in a yard at 1035 W. Arch St. shortly after 6 a.m. Sept. 30.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jordan L. Poplaskie, 23, of 3072 Upper Road, Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Edward Purcell with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct for allegedly smashing windows on a 2013 Ford owned by Maria Jones.

Police said the disturbance occurred Aug. 9 at Maple and Poplar streets.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has filed a retail theft charge against Stefanie L. Mudry, 27, of 147 S. Third St., Shamokin.

Police reported Mudry allegedly stole $535.35 worth of merchandise from Walmart Supercenter Sept. 27.

DUIs

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell charged two men with driving under the influence of alcohol involving a Sept. 21 sobriety checkpoint on Route 225 near Mountain View: A Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

- Jacob Snyder, 23, of 1532 Tioga St., Coal Township, was charged with two counts of DUI, driving a vehicle without proper inspection, driving under suspension and driving without the proper license.

Police said Snyder, who was operating a motorcycle at 12:30 a.m., had a blood-alcohol content of .154 percent.

- Jason S. Houtz, 36, of 826 Franklin St., Trevorton, was charged with two counts of DUI and driving without insurance.

Police said Houtz, who was operating a maroon GMC at 2:30 a.m., had a blood-alcohol content of .116 percent.
