Crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two people were injured in a two-car collision near Walmart SuperCenter on Route 61 just before 6 p.m. Thursday.
According to Coal Township police, Kristen Hepler, 24, of Kulpmont, was traveling north through the intersection in a 2013 Volkswagen sedan, which was struck by a 2002 Mercury driven by Shelby Morrow, 18, of Shamokin. Police said Morrow was attempting to turn left into the Coal Township Plaza.
Both drivers were taken to Geisinger Medical Center by AREA Services for treatment. The two vehicles were towed from the scene.
Witnesses told police Morrow failed to yield the right of way to Hepler. Charges will be filed pending the completion of the accident investigation, said police.
Two-vehicle crash
COAL TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a two-vehicle crash at 4:55 p.m. Wednesday near the entrance to Anthra Plaza.
Coal Township Police patrolman Chad Yoder reported a 2007 Nissan Armada, driven by Brittney Fertig, 23, of 2063 Old Reading Road, Paxinos, pulled from the Anthra Plaza onto State Route 2026 and into the path of a 2003 Pontiac Vibe, driven by Dorris Shoffler, 39, of 1093 State Route 2026. Both vehicles were damaged in the crash, but Shoffler's vehicle was towed due to a flat tire.
Five passengers in Fertig's vehicle, children ranging in ages from 2 to 8, and the two drivers were uninjured in the crash.
