Code issue settled
MOUNT CARMEL - A public nuisance charge filed by Police Chief Todd Owens against Edward W. Spielberger, 73, of 211 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, was withdrawn Wednesday by the commonwealth at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones after he made the proper repairs to his property at 241 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel.
Police charged Spielberger in April for ongoing code and public safety violations at the property.
Public nuisance
SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has cited three people for causing a public nuisance at properties they own in the city.
Sharon L. Ragan, 50, of Kunkletown, was cited Wednesday for allowing a property at 613-615 Bear Valley Ave. to be in danger of collapsing.
Miguel Gonzalez, of Brooklyn, N.Y., was cited twice for the same violation involving incidents at his property at 415 S. Market St. on Monday and Wednesday.
Anthony M. Venturino, 33, of Hamden, Conn., also was cited twice for the same violation in connection with incidents at his property at 663 Bear Valley Ave. on Monday and Wednesday.
Criminal mischief
MOUNT CARMEL - Shawn M. Soliday, 30, of 10 S. Vine St., Shamokin, was charged by Lt. Christopher Buhay with criminal mischief for allegedly smashing out the windshield and two windows on a pickup truck owned by Jason Dillow while it was parked in the 400 block of North Walnut Street on Aug. 23.
False information
PAXINOS - Jennings E. Brown III, 43, of Philadelphia, was charged by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow with providing police with false identification.
Police said Brown gave police a false name and date of birth upon being found in a vehicle that went into a field near Drug Plastics and Glass Co. on Bottle Drive on March 21. Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell informed Grow he had a warrant for Brown's arrest for providing him with false identification.
Disorderly behavior
SHAMOKIN - Jeffery Barber, 21, of 124 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct. Police say he was observed to be visibly intoxicated in the first block of South Rock Street and the surrounding area about 1:45 a.m. Saturday. He allegedly had laid down in the street and in a nearby parking lot and, according to police, was a general annoyance to everyone in his vicinity. Barber's 21st birthday was Friday.
Drunkenness
SHAMOKIN - Leon T. Supsic, 22, of 636 W. State St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for public drunkenness for an incident at 11:30 p.m. Aug. 31 in the 100 block of West Commerce Street.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Andre Stone, 32, of 612 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, has been charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension and careless driving relating to an Oct. 12, 2012, accident at Shamokin and Spurzheim streets.
Police said Stone refused to submit to a blood test.
Couple charged
SHAMOKIN - Jamie Michael Stine, 30, and his wife, Mandy Lynn Stine, 26, of 126 N. Eighth St., Shamokin, were charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with disorderly conduct involving a Sept. 2 fight at their residence.
Police said the fight disturbed neighbors.
Mandy Stine also was charged by Siko with disorderly conduct for screaming at neighbors in the middle of the street outside her home Sept. 3.
Drug offenses
SHAMOKIN - John T. Howe Jr., 22, of 112 Hunter St., Coal Township, was charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with two counts of driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and careless driving.
The charges relate to a July 16 traffic stop at Route 61 and Lombard Street in which police found marijuana, Oxycodone tablets, several small plastic baggies, a blue grinder and digital scale containing marijuana residue.
Police reported Howe was found with marijuana, morphine and Oxycodone in his blood system.
Retail theft
SHAMOKIN - Caitlin I. Bitler, 25, of 6048 State Route 225, Shamokin, was charged by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with retail theft for attempting to steal tampons valued at $4.25 from the Dollar General store on East Independence Street on Aug. 23.
DUI charges
SNYDERTOWN - Trooper Brian Ronk of state police at Stonington has charged Cheryl Sue Batdorf, 52, of 1034 Ross Road, Snydertown, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, a turn signal violation and failure to exhibit her driver's license on demand.
Police reported the charges stem from a July 31 disturbance at Batdorf's residence.
Police said Batdorf had a blood-alcohol content of .197 percent.
