Injured driver cited

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Stephen A. Dangler, 31, of Herndon, was injured in a one-vehicle crash Sunday night along Route 225 in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Dangler was driving a 1996 Chevrolet 1500 north at 10:20 p.m. when he traveled head-on into a roadside bridge abutment, causing his truck to flip over onto its driver's side.

Dangler was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, where he underwent emergency room treatment. He was in fair condition Monday, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Dangler was cited for careless driving.

An investigation is continuing.

Burglary charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Calvin Derck, 39, of 44 S. Sixth St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Henrich with two counts each of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass relating to two incidents in May.

Police reported Derck is accused of entering a house at 1414 W. Willow St. owned by Len Bellis, 57, of Coal Township, and removing items. Police said the incidents occurred May 25 or May 26 and May 28.

Burglary probe

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here are investigating a burglary that occurred between 1:35 and 2:05 a.m. Monday at JR's Mini Mart, 904 W. Arch St.

Police said numerous packs of cigarettes, lighters, a cash register and other items were stolen from the store owned by James Rosini, 51, of Sunbury.
