Bridge accident

SUNBURY - Destiny M. Bower, 20, of Trevorton, was cited by state police at Stonington for failure to drive in a single lane involving a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon along the Veterans Memorial Bridge (Route 61).

Police reported Bower was driving a 2002 Oldsmobile Alero south in the right lane at 3:06 p.m. when she attempted to merge into the left lane and struck the right front wheel of a 2007 Toyota Avelon operated by Samuel Stansbury, 51, of Sunbury.

Upon impact, Stansbury's vehicle traveled into the oncoming lanes before coming to a stop. Bower's auto spun before striking a cement barrier with its rear driver's side.

Both drivers escaped injury.

Criminal mischief

KULPMONT - State police at Stonington reported someone smashed the back window on a 2008 Mercury Mariner owned by Linda Santelli, 51, of Kulpmont, while it was parked on Chestnut Street at 10:50 p.m. Sunday.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - David Bubernack, 63, of 434 W. Arch St., Shamokin, reported someone damaged his trailer while it was parked on Fifth Street during the past two weeks.

Police said the aluminum siding near the door was scratched. There also was minor damage to the trailer door.

Contraband

SUNBURY - Andrew K. Derck, 26, of Coal Township, is charged with disorderly conduct for allegedly attempting to conceal cigarette butts in his clothing while he was being transported from Northumberland County Courthouse Monday. The sheriff's office said Derck, who was handcuffed and shackled, reached into a cigarette butt container outside the courthouse and removed several butts. He allegedly admitted wanting to sneak the butts into the county prison.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Matthew Marcheski, 23, of 566 N. Second St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct relating to a disturbance at 2:46 a.m. Sunday at Market and Arch streets.

Police said Marcheski was banging on a bus door and fled from police by running through a creek channel.

Open alcohol bottle

SHAMOKIN - Cory L. Fitzgerald, 22, of 504 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for possessing an open bottle of Mojo containing seven percent alcohol at 9:30 p.m. Saturday on Liberty Street near Water Street.

DUI

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Gloria J. Ahlum, 19, of 20 Church Hill Road, Danville, was charged with three counts of driving under the influence and one count each of underage drinking; stopping, standing and parking outside business and residence districts; driving while operating privilege is suspended; careless driving; minor prohibited from operating with any alcohol in system and failing to wear a seat belt following a traffic stop on North Logan Run Road at State Route 54 at 12:52 p.m. July 9.

Pennsylvania State Police Trooper James Yankovich reported in court documents that Ahlum was found unresponsive behind the wheel of her vehicle. Testing done at Sunbury Community Hospital showed her blood alcohol level to be .164 percent.

The charges and citations were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 3 before Jones.

Underage drinking

SHAMOKIN - Zachary L. Chesney, 20, of 1618 W. Lynn St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for underage drinking and squealing his tires at about 8:30 p.m. Saturday.

Police said Chesney squealed his tires at Diamond and Water streets and consumed and transported beer at Lincoln and Liberty streets.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Belinda Smith, 21, of 534 N. Market St., Apt. 6, Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for retail theft for stealing approximately $20 in merchandise from the Dollar General store on East Independence Street shortly after 3:30 p.m. Friday.

Public drunkenness

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Mark Costa cited Arlene L. Willis, 65, of 325 S. Fifth St., Shamokin, for public drunkenness after she was found lying in the street outside her home at 5:40 p.m. Aug. 2.

Fight charges

SHAMOKIN - Michael Dannheimer, 18, of 813 Oneida St., Shamokin, and James Montes, 23, of 800 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, were cited by Patrolman Raymond Siko II for disorderly conduct in connection with a fight at 7:39 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of North Shamokin Street.

Hit and run

LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - An investigation is continuing into a hit-and-run accident late Sunday near 215 W. Mountain Road, approximately two-tenths of a mile east of Dornsife Mountain Road.

State police at Stonington said a known 41-year-old male from Sunbury was driving a green Ford Ranger west at about 10:30 p.m. when for unknown reasons, the vehicle traveled off the north berm and continued west for approximately 75 feet before hitting a speed limit sign and mailbox. The truck then traveled through a loose gravel driveway, causing it to spin 180 degrees counter clockwise and create yaw marks across the road.

The truck came to rest along the south berm facing southeast down a slight embankment and was towed from the scene by Prodigal Garage.

The operator fled the scene before police arrived.

Theft from a motor vehicle

MOUNT CARMEL - Sterling A. Feldges, 25, of 422 E. Avenue, was charged with theft of a motor vehicle and related charges following an incident Monday at 4:11 a.m. on South Oak Street.

Police were called to the scene by the victim, Kailee Yost, who reported seeing a male inside her vehicle. The man then talked with her about fishing equipment before leaving the scene, police said. Feldges was taken into custody a few minutes later while carrying two sets of fishing waders.

Yost told police $5 was taken from her vehicle. Police took Feldges into custody and found that he was recently paroled and released from a state correctional institute. At the station, Feldges was attempting to remove his belt restraint and had to be physically escorted into the holding cell.

Feldges was charged with theft from a motor vehicle, loitering and prowling at night time, theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and public drunkenness. He was placed in prison on $20,000 bail with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Aug. 20 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.
