Motorcyclist remains critical
DANVILLE - Cory L. Thompson, 29, of Shamokin, who was hurt in an accident on Route 61 July 13, remained in critical condition Tuesday, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.
Thompson was flown by Life Flight helicopter to Geisinger after being severely injured when thrown from his motorcycle that was rear-ended by a Jeep near The Wayside Inn.
Condition improves
DANVILLE - The condition of Erick R. Trometter, 22, of Sunbury, has improved from serious to fair, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center.
Trometter was shot once July 8 by acting Sunbury Police Chief Brad Hare on Mile Post Road just outside Sunbury after allegedly assaulting his grandmother at their home and brandishing a knife when confronted by Hare.
Trometter has been charged by Sunbury police in the assault case, but no charges have been filed by state police in the shooting incident, which remains under investigation.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Joseph Dormer, 18, of Mount Carmel, was cited by Patrolman Matthew Henrich for retail theft for allegedly stealing $19.25 worth of merchandise from Walmart Supercenter July 12.
Harassment
SHAMOKIN - Ashley Lynn Russell, 23, of 551-B N. Sixth St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Shane Mowery for harassment for allegedly punching Sabrina Maisey in the face at 10:31 p.m. July 16 in the 500 block of North Market Street.
Guilty plea
SHAMOKIN - Benjamin Gray, 32, of 243 S. Vine St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to a summary offense of harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs.
An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Gray was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with assaulting his live-in girlfriend, Michelle Wolfe, July 13 at their residence.
Teen injured
LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - A 17-year-old Millersburg male suffered a moderate injury in a two-vehicle accident Thursday morning along Route 147.
State police at Stonington reported the teen, who was transported by Americus Ambulance to Harrisburg Hospital, was driving a 2004 Ford F-250 truck north at 7 a.m. when he lost control of the vehicle and struck a utility pole off the northbound shoulder before hitting the back of a parked 2012 Mack 600 tractor trailer.
Gary L. Killian, 61, of Mocksville, N.C., a passenger in the tractor-trailer, escaped injury.
The teen was cited for failing to drive in a single lane.
Driver escapes injury
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Daniel J. Hollick, 21, of Shamokin, escaped injury early Sunday in a one-car crash involving a deer along Route 61 near Township Route 762.
State police at Stonington said Hollick was driving a 2001 Dodge Stratus south at 2:19 a.m. when a deer entered the road from a wooded area off the north side; Hollick lost control of the vehicle while attempting to avoid the animal. The car exited the highway before re-entering the road and spinning 180 degrees. The car then left the northbound lane and hit an embankment before stopping.
Hollick was wearing a seat belt, police said.
His car sustained disabling damage to its front passenger side and rear driver side bumper and was towed by Paul's Towing.
Also assisting at the scene were fire personnel from Stonington and Elysburg.
Hit and run
RUSH TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a hit-and-run accident involving a vehicle hitting a mailbox Monday afternoon along Murphy Road.
Police reported an unknown vehicle traveling west between 12:05 and 1:20 p.m. left tire marks in the loose gravel and front yard at the residence of Irene Murphy, of 16 Murphy Road, Sunbury, before striking a mailbox with its front end.
The hit-and-run vehicle then fled west along Murphy Road and should have damage to its front end and under carriage.

Plants stolen
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone stole five raspberry plants, eight blueberry plants, a tree and a yellow, five-gallon diesel fuel can from Schwalm's Greenhouse, 1653 Boyer Hill Road, Sunbury, at 11 p.m. Saturday.
DUI
MOUNT CARMEL - Anthony M. Dagostino, 19, of 251 S. Chestnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with three counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving with an expired registration, driving without proper inspection and failing to possess his driver's license.
The charges relate to a May 15 incident at Fifth and Hickory streets.
Police said Dagostino was under the influence of marijuana, oxycodone and oxymorphone while driving.
Drug charges
KULPMONT - Charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and false identification to police were filed by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew against Vincent William Bills, 30, of 921 Spruce St., Kulpmont, in connection with a June 7 incident at 10th and Poplar streets.
Police said Bills identified himself as Michael Bills when confronted after being observed pushing a black ATV north on 10th Street. Police said Bills, who was found in possession of marijuana and a smoking pipe, told police he lied about his identity because there were warrants for his arrest.
Drug offenses
MOUNT CARMEL - Kimberly Ann Olearnick, 28, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance involving a May 1 incident at her residence.
Police said Olearnick possessed a syringe and seven Lorazepam tablets in a silver pill container.
Multiple charges
KULPMONT - Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington has charged Kevin Gerard Wascavage, 34, of Auburn, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on a sidewalk, failure to notify PennDOT within 15 days of a change of name or address, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving and hit and run.
The charges relate to a July 4 hit-and-run accident on Chestnut Street near 9th Street.
Police reported Wascavage had a blood-alcohol content of .201 percent.
