Motorcyclist injured

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A motorcyclist suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident along Route 890 near Grant Street in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Donald P. Vought, 52, of Sunbury, was driving a 2005 Ford 500 north shortly after 2 p.m. when he attempted to make a left turn, but drove into the path of a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle driven south on Route 890 by Patricia L. Brandt, 32, of Montandon, resulting in a minor collision.

After impact, police said Brandt reportedly lost control of her motorcycle and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven behind Vought's car by John W. Reeder III, 49, of Sunbury.

Brandt suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. A hospital spokeswoman said Brandt was in critical condition Sunday.

Vought, Reeder and two passengers in Reeder's vehicle, Janice L. Reeder, 55, of Sunbury, and a 4-year-old boy escaped injury.

An investigation is continuing.

Burglary

TREVORTON - State police at Stonington reported burglary and other charges are pending against Karl David Knoebel Jr., 48, of Trevorton, who allegedly entered the home of Brian Eugene Kinn, 49, of 1034 W. Market St., Trevorton, without his permission at 1:25 p.m. Friday, grabbed his shirt and kicked him in the foot.

Police said Knoebel also hit Kinn's laptop computer.

Scrap metal stolen

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone stole scrap metal from property owned by Roy Maurer, 56, of Dalmatia, along Malta Road between 10 and 11 a.m. Sunday.

Motorcyclist injured

CENTER TOWNSHIP - Jeremy D. Smith, 33, of Middleburg, was listed in serious condition Sunday afternoon at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville after being injured in a motorcycle crash Saturday night along Middle Road, approximately one-tenth of a mile west of Bucksey Road.

State police at Selinsgrove reported Smith was driving a 2004 Kawasaki ZZR east at 6:15 p.m. when he lost control of his cycle while negotiating a right curve. The cycle overturned onto its right side and slid off the road to the north, where it struck brush and trees before descending an embankment.

Smith, who was wearing a helmet, was transported from the scene by Penns Creek Ambulance to a landing zone before being flown by helicopter to Geisinger.

Harassment

LEWIS TOWNSHIP - A 16-year-old male from Muncy was cited by state police at Milton for harassment for allegedly making verbal threats of violence to a 16-year-old Watsontown male and a 15-year-old Muncy boy at Warrior Run High School at 12:15 p.m. Thursday.

Unlawful contact with minor

HALIFAX - Dennis Lee Buffington, 67, of 200 Market St., Pillow, who allegedly was involved in a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old female for six to eight months, is in Dauphin County Prison after being charged by state police at Lykens with having unlawful contact with a minor, sexual abuse of children, corruption of minors, indecent exposure and possessing obscene material.

Upon being called to Kissinger Road at 8:12 p.m. Saturday for a suspicious vehicle, police spotted a truck parked behind the outfield fence at a ballfield, where they made contact with Buffington and the 16-year-old girl, who was hiding in the back seat.

Buffington claimed he was the girl's uncle, which turned out not to be true.

Police said Buffington and the teens were involved in sexual encounters in various locations in Dauphin County. They reported Buffington was found in possession of inappropriate pictures of the victim and allegedly texted the victim a picture of his penis.

Buffington was committed to prison in lieu of $100,000 cash bail.
