Code citations
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two township men were again cited by code enforcement officer Chris Petrovich for alleged code violations.
Mark Shingara, of 323 Center St., was issued a citation Wednesday for allegedly violating the garbage ordinance because of construction debris at his property at 240 Center St. The latest citation follows two issued Monday and Tuesday for the same alleged violation.
Thomas E. Broscius, of 1516 Pulaski Ave., was issued two citations Wednesday for allegedly violating the faulty weather protection ordinance. His structure's roof is rotting and has several holes allowing water to enter. He also was issued two citations Tuesday for the same alleged violations.
Accident victim critical
DANVILLE - Carl Yucha, 76, of 1517 South St., Coal Township, remained in critical condition Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville from injuries suffered in a two-vehicle crash Friday night along Route 61 near Pool World in Shamokin.
Yucha was a passenger in a Honda Accord operated by Donna Yucha, 51, of the same address, who also was injured and transported by AREA Services Ambulance to Geisinger, where she was admitted. A hospital spokeswoman reported Donna Yucha was discharged recently.
Police have identified the driver of the Subaru Legacy that collided with the Accord as Tracey Delp, 26, of Womelsdorf. Delp refused medical treatment at the scene. Her passenger, Scott Oswald, 33, of Shamokin, was transported by ambulance to a local hospital, police said.
Shamokin police said the Legacy was traveling north on Route 61 at a high rate of speed when it crossed the center line and collided with the Accord.
Police reported the 8:30 p.m. accident remains under investigation.
Serious condition
DANVILLE - William Scherer, 28, of Mount Carmel, who was injured in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Route 54 near the Aqua Pa. water treatment plant in Coal Township, was still listed in serious condition Wednesday at Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, according to a hospital spokeswoman.
Criminal trespass
DALMATIA - State police at Stonington reported four known suspects unlawfully entered the former Dalmatia Elementary School, stole sports-related equipment and discharged a fire extinguisher inside the building March 15 or March 16.
An investigation is continuing.
