Theft charges
COAL TOWNSHIP - Gail Anthony, 53, of 622 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with theft, receiving stolen property and forgery involving incidents at McDonald's along Route 61.
Police reported Anthony is accused of stealing two paychecks totaling $106.42 from Kayla Nash, forging the checks and depositing them in her account at First National Bank. Police said the checks were stolen between July 9 and July 10 while Anthony and Nash were employed at McDonald's.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Daniel C. Dietz, 35, of 1741 Pulaski Ave., Coal Township, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and failing to stop for two stop signs relating to an Aug. 25 high-speed chase that concluded when the defendant was apprehended near Shamokin and Spurzheim streets.
Police said Dietz refused to submit to chemical testing.
Theft
SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged James A. Thomas, 25, of 418 N. Franklin St., Shamokin, with theft, receiving stolen property, driving under suspension, driving without proper inspection and trespass by motor vehicle.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Thomas allegedly stole seven steel railroad plates and 14 railroad stakes/ties belonging to North Shore Railroad Company on Aug. 24 from the railroad bed at Race and Pearl streets. Police also is accused of operating a red 1996 Ford on railroad property without permission.
Thomas' live-in girlfriend, Amanda Lee Campbell, 23, also was charged by Siko with theft and receiving stolen property in connection with the same incident.
DUI
COAL TOWNSHIP - Michael J. Reeser, 23, of 30 W. Willow St., Shamokin, was charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under suspension, failure to drive in a single lane, careless driving, restrictions on alcoholic beverages and failing to wear a seat belt.
The charges relate to an Aug. 11 traffic stop on Route 225 near A Street in Coal Township.
Police said Reeser had a blood-alcohol content of .206 percent.
DUI
SNYDERTOWN - Melvin Leonard Lee Wetzel, 46, of 157 Coal Run Road, Coal Township, was charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane, driving at an unsafe speed and careless driving involving an Aug. 9 accident on Route 4005 near Freidline Road.
Police reported Wetzel had a blood-alcohol content of .108 percent.
Harassment
TREVORTON - Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington has charged a Trevorton couple with harassment relating to a disturbance at their residence at 7:20 p.m. Saturday.
Catherine Marie Snyder, 36, and her husband, Joseph Warren Snyder, 30, of 225 W. Shamokin St., were cited in connection with the incident.
Police said Catherine Snyder struck her husband twice in the face and neck area with an open hand. Joseph Snyder is accused of grabbing his wife's hair and pulling her head, causing her face to hit a chair.
Police said Joseph Snyder then fled the scene and was later arrested for suspicion of DUI.
DUI
SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Nathan Rhodes has charged Gary Bramhall, 66, of 905 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol involving a July 24 accident in the 900 block of East Sunbury Street.
Police reported Bramhall had a blood-alcohol content of .222 percent.
One hurt
PENN TOWNSHIP - A Sunbury woman suffered a minor injury following a crash at the intersection of Route 11 and Bake Oven Hill Road at 3:02 p.m. Wednesday.
State police at Selinsgrove report a 2012 Toyota Rav4, driven by Jade A. Miller, 26, of Liverpool, and a 2013 Toyota Corolla, driven by Delia A. Ciulei, 35, of Sunbury, were traveling south on Route 11 in the southbound lane; the Rav4 was behind the Corolla. Ciulei slowed the Corolla to a stop in an attempt to turn left onto Bake Oven Hill Road and the Rav4 passed on the left, police said. The Rav4 turned to the right and struck the Corolla, police said.
Ciulei suffered a minor injury and was transported to a local hospital for treatment. Police cited Miller for a traffic violation.
Assault
MOUNT CARMEL - A 28-year-old borough man faces three charges for allegedly punching a 17-year-old male in the face on Aug. 7.
Police said Todd David Burns, 28, of 433 E. Seventh St., admitted striking the juvenile. He's charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch with simple assault, disorderly conduct and harassment.
The juvenile was accused by Burns of making remarks about a relative on Facebook. The teen lost a front tooth after being punched and suffered significant swelling of the upper lip, police said.
The incident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m. at Second and Maple streets, the juvenile said.
DUI
STRONG - Robert Joseph Csatlos, 27, of 351 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, is charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch, Mount Carmel Township Police, with four counts of driving under the influence after being pulled over by police at 2:24 a.m. July 27 along Route 61 when a brake light malfunctioned on his vehicle.
Katch said Csatlos exhibited physical signs of intoxication and failed field sobriety testing. Chemical testing found his blood alcohol level to be 0.117 percent and also tested positive for marijuana, police said.
Csatlos was also charged with a summary offense for the brake light.
Public drunkenness
KULPMONT - Mark Anthony Knapick, 22, of 30 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, faces four charges following his arrest early Aug. 3 near Ninth and Scott streets.
Police said Knapick was highly intoxicated when he was allegedly observed staggering and swaying while walking in the borough at 2:37 a.m. He is accused of possessing rolling papers and an undisclosed amount of marijuana.
Knapick is charged by Kulpmont Patrolman Michael Pitcavage with possession of a controlled substance, possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness.
DUI
DIAMONDTOWN - Tyler J. Petro, 20, of 51 E. Railroad St., Mount Carmel, faces one count of drunk driving and related charges following an alleged traffic violation May 19 at Mid Valley Road and Route 61 near the viaduct.
Petro, who was 19 at the time of the alleged incident, is accused of failing to stop at a stop sign about 3:09 a.m. Police said he failed field sobriety testing, and that chemical testing found his blood alcohol level to be 0.066 percent, above the 0.02 limit for a person under 21 years old.
He is charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with driving under the influence and minor operating with alcohol in system along with a stop sign violation.
Drug paraphernalia
MOUNT CARMEL - Brian Keith Maiese, 19, of 110 S. Chestnut St., is charged by Patrolman Justin Stelma with possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at his home on Aug. 20.
Police said a bag containing a glass smoking pipe, razor blades, rolling papers and a small black tin with marijuana residue were found beneath a pillow in his bedroom about 10:30 p.m.
Maiese was 18 at the time of the alleged incident.
