Vandalism
MOUNT CARMEL - Jeffrey M. Murphy, 31, of 295 Slabtown Road, Apartment 1A, Catawissa, is accused of partially dislocating a holding cell door inside the borough police department on May 26.
Murphy had been taken to the department by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski for assistance related to a separate incident. While in custody, he's accused of kicking the holding cell door between 6:45 and 7 p.m., causing $602 in damage.
Patrolman Jason Drumheller charged him with institutional vandalism and disorderly conduct.
Murphy was 30 at the time of the alleged incident.
Bit by dog
DOOLEYVILLE - Richard Paul Zanella, 59, of 17 Back St., faces multiple charges after his pit bull allegedly bit another man at 4:08 p.m. Aug. 10.
Police said Kevin Atkins was bit by the dog on his right leg and chest and also suffered scratches on his hands and arms. He refused treatment at the scene and said he'd seek treatment himself at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
Zanella said the dog pushed its way through an unlatched storm door, police said.
Zanella is charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell with control of dangerous dogs, a dog license violation, confinement and control of dogs and disorderly conduct for allegedly attempting to confront Atkins.
DUI
STRONG - Joseph Thomas McGinley, 49, of 36 N. Locust St., Mount Carmel, is charged with drunk driving following a traffic stop about 7:16 p.m. June 25 along Route 61 North.
Police said McGinley was pulled over after allegedly driving a vehicle with an expired inspection sticker. He failed field sobriety testing, police said, and had a blood alcohol level of 0.086 percent.
McGinley is charged by Trooper David Myers, state police at Stonington, with two counts of driving under the influence, careless driving, driving without a certificate of inspection and four other summary offenses.
Theft, reckless endangerment
MOUNT CARMEL - Derek Christopher Kranzel, 23, of 414 Main St., Aristes, faces charges of theft, receiving stolen property, endangering the welfare of a child, driving with a suspended license and two counts of reckless endangerment following an incident Aug. 24.
Police said Kranzel repeatedly grabbed and redirected the steering wheel of a vehicle driven by Kelsey Resendes, with their 1-year-old daughter as a passenger. He is accused of later exiting the vehicle and taking off with an Apple iPhone 5 owned by Bonnie Resendes and valued at $900.
Charges were filed by borough Patrolman Matthew Dillman.
Rings stolen
GOWEN CITY - Anthony M. Zamboni, 26, of 622 Scott St., Apt. D, Kulpmont, is accused of stealing three Masonic rings from Peter Zabawsky on April 26 and having them pawned by an acquaintance at Jasmine-Aire Boutique in Sunbury.
Zamboni is charged with theft by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington.
The rings are valued at an estimated $900.
Shoots window
MOUNT CARMEL - Bobbi Jo Rogers, 35, of 148 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, is charged by Patrolman Kevin Katch with discharging a firearm into an occupied structure, possessing an instrument of crime, propulsion of missiles, reckless endangerment, simple assault and criminal mischief.
Police said Rogers admitted shooting out the front storm door window at 34 W. Sixth St. with a BB gun while driving in her vehicle about 8:17 p.m. Sept. 1.
Property citations
SHAMOKIN - Louis Lippolis, of 846 Allentown Road, Sellersville, was issued two citations Tuesday by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for the condition of his property at 14 S. Shamokin St.
According to the citations, the front roof is partially detached from the home and is in danger of collapsing onto the sidewalks. Also, garbage was allegedly allowed to be dumped in the yard, which also was filled with high grass and weeds.
Theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - Marilyn Powell, 28, of 1207 Chemung St., reported that someone stole her medication from her residence between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 644-0333.
Code violations
SHAMOKIN - Larry Burda, of Marshall Street, Shamokin, was issued six citations this week for conditions of a dilapidated building he owns in the 700 block of North Shamokin Street.
Cpl. Bryan Primerano wrote in the citations that the roof is in danger of collapsing and poses a danger to citizens and neighboring buildings. Also, the corporal says wood and nails are exposed and the building is falling down.
