Driver cited

EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - A Trevorton driver was cited for a traffic violation when she failed to stop her vehicle at a stop sign and struck another vehicle Friday morning on Route 125 at its intersection with Route 2044, according to state police at Stonington.

Trooper Thomas Leib said Julisa M. Forney, 21, was traveling north in a 2011 Jeep Patriot on Route 125 when she drove through a stop sign and struck a 2011 Chevrolet Malibu driven by Carol A. Scandle, 56, of Shamokin, at 5 a.m. Friday.

Both drivers were wearing their seat belts, police said.

Forney was not injured, but it is not known whether Scandle was injured, police said.

The Malibu was towed from the scene by Anthracite Towing, police said.

Fails to report

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - A Pillow driver is being cited for two traffic violations after he failed to report an accident Thursday afternoon when he allegedly struck a tree along Route 3018 east of Hebe Bypass Road, according to state police at Stonington.

Trooper Marc Yemzow said Matthew T. Brown, 27, was driving east in a 1994 Honda Civic at 3 p.m. Thursday when he failed to negotiate a left hand curve, exited the north berm of the road and struck a tree off the north berm.

Brown was wearing a seat belt and experienced a minor injury, police said.

The car was towed by Prodigal Garage, Dornsife, police said.
