Criminal trespass

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police are asking for the public's help in identifying trespassers who did damage to Anthracite Outdoor Adventure Area ground with their vehicles Thursday afternoon.

Officers report at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, a dark-colored Jeep Cherokee with silver, possibly aluminum rims drove into the basin area of the AOAA Park, just off of Route 125, and ran over three no trespassing signs, knocking them down. The vehicle then drove onto an erosion blanket and spun its rear tires.

Authorities say there were three occupants inside the vehicle at the time of the incident. Anyone with information regarding the vehicle or parties involved is urged to contact Coal Township Police at 644-0333.

BUTLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Frackville charged Carlene L. Halcovich, 52, of Mount Carmel with driving under the influence following a traffic stop on State Route 4030 between Gilberton and Girardville in Butler Township at 1 a.m. Monday morning.

Police stopped Halcovich for a traffic violation and she allegedly showed signs of intoxication during the traffic stop, and failed field sobriety tests, along with a breath test at the station.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Christina E. Hale, of Frackville.

Two-vehicle crash

SHAMOKIN DAM - A Shamokin man was cited by state police after a two-vehicle crash at 2:50 p.m. Sunday at the intersection of North Susquehanna Trail and West Eighth Avenue, Shamokin Dam, Snyder County.

State police at Selinsgrove report a 1991 Ford Aerostar, driven by Lucas T. Maryott, 30, of Shamokin, and a 2013 Ford F150, driven by Thomas M. Powell, 23, of Milton, were both traveling south on Routes 11 and 15 in the right travel lane. Police say Powell stopped in the traffic lane due to heavy stop and go traffic, but Maryott failed to stop and struck the rear of the F150 with the Aerostar's front end. After the impact, both vehicles moved off the roadway under their own power.

Powell's vehicle had to be towed from the scene while Maryott was cited by police for following too closely.
