Heroin charges

ELYSBURG - Three people face drug charges after they were allegedly found by police in possession of heroin and syringes March 7 along Route 487 near the former Paper Magic.

Patrolman Christopher Grow, Ralpho Township Police, encountered the three about 5:40 p.m. after the vehicle in which they were traveling pulled off the highway due to a flat tire, according to court papers.

The vehicle's driver, Sean Keegan, 27, of Shamokin, and Donald J. Ponatoski, 27, of Coal Township, are each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Barry Anoia, 27, of Coal Township, faces the same charges along with one count of providing false identification.

Charges were filed May 6.

Another passenger, Gary Dombroski, has not been charged.

Multiple blue bags were found inside the vehicle's glove compartment, according to court papers. Syringes, two spoons and six additional bags of heroin were found outside the car, which appeared to have been dropped out of a rear passenger window upon the officer's arrival. Another syringe was found inside Anoia's boot, police say.
