Bad checks
MOUNT PLEASANT MILLS - Todd A. Swineford, 45, of Trevorton, was charged by state police at Selinsgrove with writing a bad check in the amount of $593 to N&H Garage, Route 104, Mount Pleasant Mills on March 15, which was later returned for insufficient funds. The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge Lori R. Hackenburg, of Middleburg.
Heroin charges
ELYSBURG - Three people face drug charges after they were allegedly found by police in possession of heroin and syringes March 7 along Route 487 near the former Paper Magic.
Patrolman Christopher Grow, Ralpho Township Police, encountered the three about 5:40 p.m. after the vehicle in which they were traveling pulled off the highway due to a flat tire, according to court papers.
The vehicle's driver, Sean Keegan, 27, of Shamokin, and Donald J. Ponatoski, 27, of Coal Township, are each charged with possession of a controlled substance and possession of paraphernalia. Barry Anoia, 27, of Coal Township, faces the same charges along with one count of providing false identification.
Charges were filed May 6.
Another passenger, Gary Dombroski, has not been charged.
Multiple blue bags were found inside the vehicle's glove compartment, according to court papers. Syringes, two spoons and six additional bags of heroin were found outside the car, which appeared to have been dropped out of a rear passenger window upon the officer's arrival. Another syringe was found inside Anoia's boot, police say.
Assisting at the scene were Northumberland County Sheriff Chad Reiner and police K-9 "Clark."
DUI, drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL - A borough woman is charged with driving under the influence and a borough man faces drug charges following their arrest in Atlas in February.
Patrolman David Stamets Jr., Mount Carmel Township Police, says Hope Elizabeth Lowry, 27, of 327 W. Fig St., Mount Carmel, was behind the wheel of a Dodge Dakota when she struck a parked vehicle in the 200 block of East Saylor Street about 8:20 p.m. Feb. 7.
She and the vehicle's owner, Jason Starkoski, 30, same address, were pulled over later that night in the 200 block of East Columbia Avenue. Police say Lowry admitted smoking a small amount of marijuana, and that she failed field sobriety testing.
Starkoski was allegedly found in possession of marijuana, a cellophane bag and four unidentified brown capsules, with additional marijuana reportedly found inside the vehicle. Police say he was noncompliant at the scene.
Lowry faces DUI, driving under the influence, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, accidents with damage to unattended property and careless driving.
Starkoski is charged with permitting violation of vehicle title, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting arrest.
