DANVILLE - Blanche Ernest, 82, of Catawissa, was listed in serious condition Thursday at Geisinger Medical Center, according to a hospital spokesman.

She was injured Wednesday after she reportedly fell ill behind the wheel of a 1999 Toyota Corolla and crashed into a field along Route 61, near Shamrock Road in Shamokin Township.

She was initially treated at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital before being transferred to Geisinger's main campus.

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police say a teenager is responsible for causing "extensive damage" to a Town Park picnic table.

The 14-year-old borough male is charged in juvenile court with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct. Charges were filed by Patrolman Matthew Dillman.

The teen allegedly damaged the table at 6 p.m. March 8. He was identified through a review of various surveillance cameras placed in the area of Town Park, police say.

Punched in mouth

MOUNT CARMEL - A Lewistown man was cited for harassment after allegedly punching a Coal Township man in the mouth.

John Wilson, 24, of West Fourth Street, is accused of punching Jayde Roth, 26, of West Walnut Street. Wilson was observed by police shortly before 6 p.m. March 31 at 136 N. Oak St. pounding on the front door and subsequently admitted to punching Roth, police say.

Roth suffered a bloody lip and refused medical attention.

The citation was filed by Patrolman Kevin Katch.

Rebuck man hurt

HALIFAX TOWNSHIP - Douglas A. Grove, 21, of Rebuck, suffered moderate injuries in a one-car accident April 17 on Route 147 (River Road) near Kip Road.

State police at Lykens reported Grove was driving a 1999 Ford Contour north at 8:25 p.m. when his car began to drift off the side of the highway. Police said Grove then over-corrected to the left, causing his auto to cross the southbound lane and exit the road. The vehicle continued down an embankment and traveled approximately 30 feet off the highway before flipping onto its roof and coming to rest on railroad tracks.

Grove, who was wearing a seat belt, was transported by Halifax Ambulance to Harrisburg Hospital. He was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Route 147 was closed for approximately one hour due to the accident.
