MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Hali Lynn Matzura, 25, of 1111 N. Third St., Harrisburg, waived three counts of possession of a controlled substance and one count of possession of drug paraphernalia. She was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

Matzura is accused of possessing one tablet each of alprazolam and Ativan, three Suboxone strips and a cap to a hypodermic needle allegedly found during a traffic stop Nov. 24 on the Merriam Highway. Charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr.

n David B. Barker, 28, of 229 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, waived one count each of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of a controlled substance and a high-beam violation. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from a Nov. 11 incident on Route 54 near the former Boylan's Garage. Police say Barker had a blood-alcohol content of .120 percent and also had marijuana in his system. Charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman David Stamets Jr.

n Matthew L. Patterson, 37, of 14 E. Mill St., Elysburg, waived two counts of driving under the influence and one count of careless driving. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

The charges stem from a Sept. 17 traffic stop on Route 54 near Dave's Flowers in Elysburg. Charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Stephen Spade.

n Ronald Miller, 67, of 1143 Poplar St., Kulpmont, waived two counts of driving under the influence and one count each of careless driving and accidents involving damage to unattended property. He was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.

He is accused of having a blood alcohol level of 0.223 percent on Dec. 22, the night he allegedly drove into the rear of his neighbor's parked vehicle five times. Charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Michael Pitcavage.

n Charges of theft by deception, receiving stolen property and bad checks were withdrawn against Cassandra Lei Hendricks, 29, of 395 Queen St., Northumberland. She was accused of issuing two bad checks in November to Stanley Romanoski for 200 gallons of heating oil. Full restitution was paid.

n Joshua Glenn Daubert, 19, of 651 Scott St., Kulpmont, waived one count each of drug possession of drug paraphernalia possession. He was released on $10,000 unsecured bail.

Police were dispatched to his residence Feb. 1 after his mother called 911 to report that he took a drug and was very confused and could barely move. A search warrant was obtained and 21 grams of marijuana and various paraphernalia, including pipes and rolling papers, were recovered, police say. Charges were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Joshua Pastucka.

n Two counts of disorderly conduct and one count of harassment were held to court against Rebecca Jo Vanbrocklin, 27, of 1426 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, who failed to appear for a preliminary hearing.

The charges stem from a noise complaint at her home Dec. 30 and were filed by Kulpmont Patrolman Cade Holden.

n David Xavier Hernandez, 18, of 244 W. Cherry St., Mount Carmel, waived one count of corruption of minors. His bail was reduced at the hearing from monetary to $20,000 unsecured, and he was released.

The charge was filed following a disturbance with his parents at their home Dec. 27. He is accused of having a relationship with a 14-year-old girl which, police say, was confirmed by both Hernandez and the girl's mother. However, police say Hernandez did not say if the relationship was sexual. Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma filed the charge.
