Strong-arm robbery
NEWTOWN - State police at Schuylkill Haven continue to investigate a Feb. 19 robbery of an elderly woman along Swatara Road, just off of Route 209 in Reilly Township, Schuylkill County.
Police report Kathlene M. Devine, 70, of Gilberton, was getting a ride from Pottsville to Swatara Road, where the crime occurred in a white SUV of unknown make and model.
At approximately 2:30 p.m., while on Swatara Road, a male backseat passenger placed Devine in a headlock and opened the vehicle door. When the door was opened, Devine was pushed out, losing her purse, which had been taken by the male passenger, according to police. The SUV drove toward Route 209 and then toward Newtown. Police say $1,238 was inside the purse, which was white with red, white and blue patches on it.
The driver of the vehicle was a white female, possibly in her 40s and using the name "Katie." The backseat passenger, also in his 40s, was using the name "Chris."

Driver to be charged
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported a 42-year-old Sunbury woman will be charged with operating a vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock system relating to an incident at 12:12 a.m. Saturday at the intersection of Route 890 and Captain Bloom Road.
Police did not identify the suspect.
Gambling violations
SHAMOKIN - The Home Plate, 4 S. Second St., was cited Thursday by the Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement with gambling/lotteries violations for possessing or operating gambling devices or paraphernalia or permitting gambling or lotteries, pool selling and/or bookmaking on its licensed premises July 17.
Hit and run
LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating a hit-and-run accident that occurred between midnight and 9 a.m. Sunday at the intersection of Middle Road and Hickory Road in this Northumberland County township.
Police reported a vehicle was traveling west along Middle Road through the intersection with Hickory Road when it crossed both lanes and exited the right side of Hickory Road before striking and uprooting a tree. The driver then fled the scene traveling west along Hickory Road.
Police said the hit-and-run vehicle may be a plum Buick that possibly sustained moderate damage to its passenger side.

Minor injuries
SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Charles J. Cooper, 89, of Coal Township, and Magda I. Cosme, 51, of Catawissa, suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident Monday afternoon along Route 487 near Doll Road.
According to state police at Stonington, Cosme had her 2001 Pontiac Sunfire stopped while waiting for a vehicle in front of her when Cooper's 2009 Chevrolet Impala struck the Sunfire from behind.
Cooper and Cosme were transported by Elysburg Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
Cooper was cited for following a vehicle too closely.
Simple assault
GILBERTON - Paul Chicora, 30, of Gilberton, was charged by state police at Frackville with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance at 4:15 a.m. Monday at 6 Long Row.
Police reported Chicora began verbally abusing a 21-year-old Gilberton woman before assaulting her. Police said Chicora pushed the victim to the ground, grabbed at her face, pulled her hair, burned her cheek with a lit cigarette and choked her.
Police reported Chicora then left the residence for several hours before returning and fighting with the victim again. During the second assault, police said Chicora pushed the victim through a wall, which left an impression of her body in the drywall.
The victim then called 911 for police, who found Chicora hiding in a basement.
The victim suffered several bruises on her face and neck and a burn on her face.
Chicora was arraigned by on-call Magisterial District Judge Anthony Kilker and committed to Schuylkill County Prison in Pottsville in lieu of $25,000 bail.
Oil voucher stolen
GIRARDVILLE - State police at Frackville reported someone stole an oil voucher for 100 gallons of heating oil from the front door at the residence of a 60-year-old Girardville woman at 126 W. Ogden St. between 5 and 7 p.m. Monday.
Storm grate stolen
EAST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a storm grate over the weekend from Creek Road, approximately three-tenths of a mile west of Route 125.
