Still critical

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - A motorcyclist who suffered serious injuries Saturday afternoon in a three-vehicle accident along Route 890 remained in critical condition Monday evening, according to a hospital spokesperson.

Patricia L. Brandt, 32, of Montandon, was operating a 2005 Kawasaki motorcycle south on Route 890 near Grant Street when Donald P. Vought, 52, of Sunbury, drove a 2005 Ford 500 into the path of the motorcycle, resulting in a minor collision, according to state police at Stonington.

After impact, police said Brandt reportedly lost control of her motorcycle and struck a 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer driven behind Vought's car by John W. Reeder III, 49, of Sunbury.

Brandt suffered serious injuries and was taken by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville.

Vought, Reeder and two passengers in Reeder's vehicle, Janice L. Reeder, 55, of Sunbury, and a 4-year-old boy escaped injury.

An investigation is continuing.

Harassment

SHAMOKIN - Matthew Dilliplane, 26, of 35 S. Fifth St., was cited with harassment following an incident outside his residence at 5 p.m. Friday. Police said Dilliplane allegedly punched Brent Bartholomew, 23, of 932 W. Coal St., Trevorton, in the face. The citation was filed by Shamokin City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver.

Dog violation

SHAMOKIN - Carl Straub, 28, of 502 N. Coal St., was cited by Shamokin City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver for violating the city's dog ordinance Sunday for having at his residence a dog that disturbed the peace and good order of the city.

Code violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Gail A. Ossman, of 123 Mahantongo Mountain Road, Klingerstown, was cited by township code enforcement officer Chris Petrovich for violating the township's ordinance for keeping animals at a property at 1332 W. Walnut St. According to the ordinance, no person may keep or maintain any animal in an unsanitary, unsafe or offensive condition.

City nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Katy Ann Dunaway, 31 of 1688 Fairview Rd., McClure, was cited Monday by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for violating the city's public nuisance ordinance for allowing a building she owns at 102 S. Pearl St., to fall into disrepair.

Gun theft

SUNBURY - Roberta A. Kurrell, 76, of Little Mountain Road, Lower Augusta Township, reported someone stole a muzzle loader from her home between April 1 and Sunday, according to state police at Stonington. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.

Batteries stolen

SUNBURY - Doris Holt, 74, of Shamokin, and Lisa Laforme, 53, of Trevorton, reported batteries were stolen from their campers/motor homes stored since Oct. 11 at Brumbach's Auction, Lower Augusta Township, according to state police at Stonington. Scrap stolen

DALMATIA - Roy Maurer, 56, reported scrap metal was stolen between 10 and 11 a.m. Sunday from his property along Malta Road in Lower Mahanoy Township, according to state police at Stonington. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-286-5601.

Criminal mischief

LITTLE MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Eugene Zechman, 44, of Middleburg, reported to state police at Stonington someone placed metal pieces into the transmission of a John Deere log skidder, causing a malfunction, at a construction site on Dornsife Mountain Road sometime between 3 p.m. April 9 and 7 a.m. April 10.

Tailgate scratched

KULPMONT - Franklin Dunkle Sr., 56, of 725 Spruce St., Kulpmont, reported to state police at Stonington somone scratched the tailgate of his 2000 Chevrolet pickup truck Monday while it was parked near his residence. The vandalism caused $250 in damage.

Code violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ida M. Makowski, of 113 N. Berry St., Coal Township, was cited by township code enforcement officer Chris Petrovich for a solid waste violation. Petrovich said Makowski allowed garbage and indoor furniture to accumulate in her front and side yards.

Electronics stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Matthew Stevens reported to Coal Township police a 55-inch television, a 32-inch television and a laptop computer were stolen from his apartment at 24 S. Sherman St. between 10:40 p.m. April 8 and 2:10 a.m. April 9. The items are valued at $3,100. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Disorderly conduct

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brian Burke, 40, of 1130 Tharp St., was charged with disorderly conduct related to a property dispute at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Tharp Street.

Drug charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Ryan M. Boria, 25, of Reading, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, false swearing and false reports to police involving a vehicle stop Friday afternoon along Route 901 in Coal Township.

Police said Boria was found in possession of a silver key chain pill container filled with synthetic marijuana, a glass pipe with burnt residue, a small metal cleaning rod, a black zip bag filled with synthetic marijuana, an empty zip bag labeled Diablo 5 grams and a paper tablet with synthetic marijuana pieces.

DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Robert L. Miller Jr., 45, of 1252 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, limitations on backing, depositing waste on highways, a stop sign violation, driving under suspension and restriction on alcoholic beverages.

The charges relate to a May 23, 2013, safety seat belt check in Marion Heights.

Police said Miller had a blood-alcohol content of .275 percent.

Access device fraud

MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property were filed by Cpl. David Donkochik against Patricia Ann Suszko, 58, of 29 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Suszko, who worked for Family Home Medical at the time of the offenses, is accused of cashing checks she stole from a 97-year-old borough woman in her care and withdrawing money from the victim's account through an automatic teller machine. Police said a total of $3,030.39 was stolen from the victim between Oct. 1 and Feb. 27.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Ashley Marie Knopp, 25, of 229 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.

Police said Knopp is accused of stealing several hundred pounds of scrap metal valued at approximately $700 from Lapinski Lumber Company at Seventh and Vine streets between Dec. 11 and Dec. 24.

Simple assault

MOUNT CARMEL - Chastity Dewees, 33, of 343 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment involving an April 10 disturbance at her residence.

Police reported Dewees grabbed Roxanne Lee Misner by the neck, threw her to the ground, choked her and hit her head off the floor several times.

On Wednesday, Dewees pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $456. The two counts of simple assault were withdrawn.

SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 23 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n Randy Blake Elliott II, 24, of 1240 Poplar St., Kulpmont, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and was ordered to pay $400 in fines plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.

An additional charge of harassment was withdrawn.

Elliott was charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II in connection with a March 9 fight at Market and Spruce streets.

n Ahkil Lee, 20, of Shamokin, pleaded guilty to two counts of disorderly conduct involving separate incidents in the city.

Lee was charged by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III in connection with a March 1 fight on South Market Street. He also was charged by Patrolman William Zalinski in connection with a March 26 disturbance at 233 Willow St.

He was ordered to pay $500 in fines plus costs and placed on two years supervised probation.

n Zachary Troutman, 31, of 130 S. Main St., Herndon, pleaded guilty to a summary of harassment and was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus costs.

An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.

Troutman was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Edward Purcell with punching Tiffany Troutman in the face and hitting her in the face with a phone April 6 at a Tioga Street trailer.

n James H. Latshaw, 47, and Christopher J. Hollenbach, 31, both of 126 E. Arch St., Shamokin, waived charges of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass. Latshaw also waived to court an additional charge of resisting arrest for fleeing from police.

They were charged by Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington with stealing $1,275 worth of various parts from a 955 Cat Tracks loader at Snyder's One-Stop at 5351 Route 61 in Shamokin Township Dec. 8.

n Christina J. Hepner, 25, of 19 E. Independence St., Apt 7, Shamokin, waived a felony count of retail theft filed by Cpl. Bryan Primerano.

Hepner was charged with taking candy and sunglasses valued at $9.48 from the Dollar General Store Jan. 13.

The crime is deemed a felony offense because it was Hepner's third retail theft offense.

n Jordan Diehl, 20, of Quakertown, and Darren S. Bryant, 20, of Skippack, waived charges of theft by unlawful taking, agricultural trespass and criminal mischief involving a Jan. 19 incident in Zerbe Township. Bryant also waived to court a charge of recklessly endangering another person.

The charges were filed by Cpl. Brent Zechman of state police at Stonington.

n Dorothy Brenneman, 32, of Ashland, waived a retail theft charge filed by Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga.

She is accused of stealing $408.85 in merchandise Jan. 16 from Walmart Supercenter, Route 61.

n Christopher W. Lloyd, 36, of 627 E. Packer St., Shamokin, waived charges of aggravated assault, riot, criminal conspiracy to cause a riot, two counts of simple assault, resisting arrest and failure of disorderly persons to disperse.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano and Patrolman Mark Costa in connection with a March 7 fight in the 500 block of North Shamokin Street near Snapper's Bar in which Costa was injured.

n Joseph D. Barnes, 28, of 120 W. Willow St., Shamokin, waived charges of criminal mischief and disorderly conduct relating to an April 8 disturbance at his home.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Patrolman Shane Mowery.

Barnes is accused of using a pipe bender to smash a $1,200 motor scooter owned by Angelina Raygoza, causing damage to the windshield, gas tank and handle bar area.

n Joseph V. Payne, 29, of 916 E. Chestnut St., Shamokin, waived charges of criminal attempt to commit burglary, criminal attempt to commit criminal trespass, criminal attempt to commit theft, loitering and prowling at night, criminal mischief, disorderly conduct and possessing instruments of crime involving an April 6 attempted break-in at the Clubhouse Bar, 1027 E. Race St.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Patrolman David Sage.

Police reported Payne was seeking to steal metal items, such as beer taps and empty beer kegs, but was observed by neighbors who called police. While Payne was attempting to flee the area from an upper porch on the building, he fell and was taken into custody by police without incident.

Payne is accused of causing approximately $500 in damage during the attempted break-in.

n Jason Russell, 27, of 510 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, who is accused of being involved in eight drug deals in the city, was held for court on multiple charges.

Russell, who remains in Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, was initially arraigned on six drug-related offenses relating to an Oct. 11 incident in the city.

He was charged by Cpl. Bryan Primerano with multiple drug-related offenses involving drug deals on Oct. 3 (two complaints), Oct. 7, Feb. 4 and Feb. 11 (two complaints). He also was charged by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle with drug-related offenses in connection with a Dec. 15 incident.

Police allegedly found six packets of Spice, a synthetic marijuana, hidden in a bathroom ceiling, plastic bags believed to have been used to package narcotics, a cell phone allegedly used to set up deals with an informant and $312 during a search of Russell's home.

The charges include multiple felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal use of a communication facility and criminal conspiracy involving small amounts of marijuana, cocaine, Spice and prescription hydrocodone.

Oven fire

KULPMONT - A malfunctioning oven caused minor charring to a wall at 1135 Popular St. Wednesday afternoon. Fire crews cleared the scene within 45 minutes after checking the house.

Waives hearing

MOUNT CARMEL - Joshua Seth Kovaschetz, 34, of 2273 Mile Hill Road, P.O. Box 301, Sunbury, waived to court Wednesday charges of hit and run, following a vehicle too closely, careless driving, failure to provide immediate notice of an accident to police and operating a vehicle without an official certificate of inspection.

The charges were filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington in connection with a Feb. 7 two-vehicle accident at the intersection of Sunbury and Whiteknight roads in Riverside.

Kovaschetz was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for plea court June 23 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

Case sent to county court

MOUNT CARMEL - Joseph M. Barnyock, 69, of Branchdale, waived to court Wednesday two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and failure to drive in a single lane involving a Jan. 12 accident on Route 901 at the "S Turns" near Locust Gap.

Barnyock was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to appear for plea court June 23 at Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, where he can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

ID theft

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported Amanda Lee Thomas, of Dalmatia, discovered a credit card was unlawfully acquired using her identity in April 2007, according to a routine inspection of her credit history.

Bicyclist hit by car

SUNBURY - Police here are searching for the driver and vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident at 7 p.m. Wednesday at the intersection of Packer and North Third streets.

Police said a 2003 or 2004 silver Ford Focus hatchback operated by a female struck bicyclist Brandon Reigle, 17, of Susquehanna Avenue, Sunbury. Police did not indicate if Reigle was injured or hospitalized.

Police said a black male with long hair was a back-seat passenger in the car, which was last seen in the 700 block of North Third Street traveling toward Reagan Street. The hit-and-run vehicle should have minor damage to its passenger side front and a possible dented hood.

Burglary

WEST MILTON - State police at Milton reported more than $2,500 worth of copper plumbing was removed from several cabins and a cottage at Central Oak Heights Rental Cabins/Cottage Community, 75 Heritage Road, West Milton, between Oct. 15 and Monday.

Theft by deception

DEWART - Trista Lebarron, of Dewart, told state police at Milton that someone defrauded her of $1,450 in a transaction for a dog earlier this month.

Three escape injury

SHAMOKIN DAM - Three area residents escaped injury in a two-vehicle accident Sunday afternoon on Route 61 in this Snyder County borough.

State police at Selinsgrove reported Angela M. Baylor, 33, of Coal Township, was driving a 1993 Jeep Grand Cherokee west at 1:55 p.m. when her vehicle struck the rear of a 2008 Toyota Tacoma operated by Michael J. Stahl, 39, of Paxinos, who came to a stop in traffic due to a crash on the Route 61 ramp to Routes 11-15 south.

Baylor, Stahl and a passenger in Stahl's vehicle, Jeremy Stahl, 35, of Sunbury, escaped injury.

Heroin overdose

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brittany Brown, 23, of 1111 W. Mulberry St., Coal Township, who overdosed on heroin at her home April 7 and was transported by ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, has been charged by Patrolman Christopher Lapotsky with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police said a syringe was found in Brown's purse.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Edward Purcell has charged John D. Kodack, 31, of 1528 W. Montgomery St., Coal Township, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, accidents involving damage to an unattended vehicle or property, failure to give immediate notice of an accident, reckless driving and a stop sign violation relating to a Feb. 25 hit-and-run accident at State and Jackson streets.

Police reported Kodack had a blood-alcohol content of .226 percent.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Ryan Kirchman, 23, of 216 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with simple assault and harassment for allegedly shoving and choking his girlfriend, Maria Hill, and grabbing her 7-year-old son by the neck and dragging him across the floor at 7:37 a.m. Wednesday at their residence.

Kirchman was arraigned at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Liquor law violations

MONTOURSVILLE - Liquor law violations were filed by the state police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement against the Lithuanian Club, 1135 Chemung St., Coal Township.

The establishment was cited Thursday for failing to fulfill charter purposes, failure to adhere to the by-laws, failure to charge and collect dues and failure to maintain complete and truthful records covering the operation of the licensed business for a period of two years immediately preceding Jan. 24, 2014, concerning the local option small games of chance act. The incidents occurred in the establishment between Aug. 1, 2013. and Feb. 13, 2014.

Two caught in pursuit

SUNBURY - Two individuals were caught Friday evening following a pursuit through the city of Sunbury and on Snydertown Road.

Sunbury police reported officers attempted to stop a vehicle for a traffic violation, but the driver tried to escape. A short vehicular pursuit occurred without a danger to the public, police said.

The driver and his passenger abandoned the vehicle on Snydertown Road and attempted escape on foot. Sunbury Police K-9 Officer Scott Hause and K-9 Skoti were called in, and after a nighttime search, two offenders were apprehended. Taken into custody were Andrew Beal, 27, and a 17-year-old male, both of the Shamokin area.

Police said the investigation is continuing and charges are pending. Sunbury Police officers Hause, Travis Bremigan and Bradley Slack were backed up by officers of the Pennsylvania State Police and Shamokin Dam Police Department.

Scattering rubbish

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report that at 4:58 p.m. Friday, someone disposed of two bags of rubbish along State Route 4005 near Route 61, and then fled in an unknown direction.

ATV accident

FIDLER'S GREEN - A Coal Run man sustained non-life threatening injuries after rolling his ATV north of this Coal Township village around 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Jeff Cosgrove, 48, was transported out of the woods by a personal vehicle after rolling his Polaris Trail Blazer. Coal Township police said Cosgrove was not wearing a helmet and the ATV did not have DCNR tags.

Hit and run

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington continue to investigate a crash of a parked vehicle at 12:30 a.m. Saturday on South Fourth Street near Market Street.

Police say a 2014 Jeep Patriot was legally parked on Fourth Street facing north along the east curb, parked overnight while another vehicle, not identified by police, was parked facing southwest, near the Bowery Bar, and across from the Patriot. At that time, the vehicle backed up and, with its left rear, struck the left front fender of the Patriot, After the collision, the unknown vehicle fled the scene without providing his information to the owner of the Patriot.

Criminal mischief

SNYDERTOWN - Glenn F. Weller, 72, of 530 S. Main St., Sunbury, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 10 p.m. Friday and 7:30 a.m. Saturday, someone damaged a mailbox and post at his property on State Route 4005 near Route 61 in Snydertown.

One vehicle crash

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - No one was injured in a crash at 2:30 a.m. Sunday on Cold Run Road near Mile Hill Road in Upper Augusta Township.

State police at Stonington report a 2013 Ford Focus, driven by Dustin J. Lloyd, 21, of Sunbury, was traveling north on Cold Run Road, when Lloyd failed to negotiate a sharp left curve in the road and traveled off the roadway, striking an embankment off the east shoulder of Cold Run Road and coming to rest facing north.

Lloyd was not injured in the crash, but police said he will be cited for a traffic violation.

Scrap metal stolen

MAYBERRY TOWNSHIP - John Bulko, of Catawissa, reported to state police at Stonington that at 7 a.m. Saturday, a known suspect removed scrap metal from Bulko's property on High Road, Mayberry Township, Montour County. Police said the investigation continues.

Unauthorized use of a vehicle

RUSH TOWNSHIP - Thelma Jones, of Danville, reported to state police at Stonington that at 10:30 p.m. Friday, a known suspect used her vehicle without her consent. Police say the investigation is continuing.

Mailbox damaged

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Scott Lenker, of Mahantongo Creek Road, Dalmatia, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime Saturday, a vehicle traveling south on Mahantongo Creek Road exited the left side of the road and struck Lenker's mailbox.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - A roadside mailbox and newspaper box owned by Darlene Wisgo, of 345 Route 901, was hit by a vehicle and left on the highway near the entrance to Coal Township-SEEDCO Industrial Park, where it was found about 5:30 a.m. Sunday. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

2 crash

COAL TOWNSHIP - A township man was cited for a stop sign violation stemming from a two-vehicle accident at Route 125 and Bear Valley Road about 2:20 p.m. Saturday.

According to police, James Boris, 55, of 1024 W. Lynn St., failed to stop at a stop sign and pulled a vehicle onto Route 125 into the path of a vehicle driven by Michelle LaCrosse, 41, of 5529 Lower Road, Shamokin.

LaCrosse was treated for minor injuries at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, police said, while Boris was not injured. Both vehicles were towed.

Coal Township Fire Department and Shamokin police assisted.

Tires slashed

COAL TOWNSHIP - Richard Madden, 28, of 1223 Pulaski Ave., told police the driver-side tires on his 2008 Ford Mustang were slashed Friday night while the vehicle was parked in front of his residence, possibly about 11 p.m. Each tire is valued at $173. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Trash violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Jarred Thomas Dabulis, 25, of 110 Center St., Tharptown, was charged with scattering rubbish for allegedly dumping and burning houshold trash Thursday on coal lands southeast of Coal Run.

Street fight

SHAMOKIN - Three people were cited with disorderly conduct for allegedly fighting at Water and Washington streets shortly before 6 p.m. Saturday: Michelle A. Divergigelis, 44, and Kevin Jeremiah, 45, both of 503 W. Boyd St., Shamokin, and John Valenskie, 36, of 325 E. Water St., Shamokin.

LCE violations

MONTOURSVILLE - Quinny's Pub, 300 S. Market St., Shamokin, was cited April 17 by the Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement for failing to require patrons to vacate the premises no later than 2:30 a.m. and selling or furnishing alcohol between 2 and 7 a.m.

The LCE reported the violations occurred March 15.

Drug charges filed

MOUNT CARMEL - Police charged Joseph F. Boblick, 34, of 235 S. Chestnut St., with possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of a controlled substance following an incident at his residence April 1.

Borough police patrolman William Adamski reported in court documents that officers were called to assist probation officers with a check on Boblick. In an upstairs bedroom, where Boblick was found, were four narcotic smoking pipes, four items used for cooking narcotics and a small silver vial with four white rocks inside, Adamski said. Field testing showed that the rocks were crack cocaine, according to police.

Boblick was arraigned Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $15,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 30.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Carrie Feudale, 23, of Coal Township, was charged by township police patrolman Matthew Hashuga with a felony count of retail theft after she allegedly stole a home theater system, worth $208, without paying full retail value from Walmart March 2.

Burglary

MARION HEIGHTS - Ronald A. Wills, 25, of 67 Springside St., Locust Gap, was charged with burglary and two counts of criminal trespass after an incident at a Marion Heights home Nov. 1.

Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said Wills and two other individuals entered the home of Michael Filipczak and intended to harm him, but left when the victim's mother came home.

Wills was arraigned Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Drug, DUI charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Paul B. Chicora, 31, of 6 Long Row Road, Gilberton, was charged with a number of drug and traffic offenses related to a traffic stop nearly one year ago in the area of Sixth and Locust streets.

Borough police Patrolman William Adamski said officers stopped a vehicle Chicora was operating after observing him do a U-turn in the middle of the block, nearly striking several parked vehicles. Police said Chicora failed field-sobriety tests, but refused blood-alcohol testing because he allegedly admitted the tests would show marijuana in his system.

Another officer did a search of the vehicle and found five plastic bags containing methamphetmine, a small amount of marijuana and a small scale.

Chicora was arraigned Tuesday on two counts each of possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance and possession of a controlled substance, and charges of possession of a small amount of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession with intent to deliver drug paraphernalia, driving under the influence and driving while the operating privilege is suspended or revoked. He was placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, is scheduled for Wednesday.

Drug charges

COAL TOWNSHIP - Mount Carmel Township Police charged Emily A. Althouse, 24, of 1128 Buttonwood St., Reading, with possession of a controlled substance and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia following a traffic stop April 11 on Route 901.

Althouse was charged after police found synthetic marijuana and fentanyl and other items of paraphernalia in the vehicle she was operating.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, is scheduled May 28.

Paraphernalia charge

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Two Sunbury males were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia following a March 27 incident at the parking lot of the Pine Burr Inn, Route 61, Atlas.

Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. said Dustin W. Weirick, 33, of 1029 Edison Ave., and Joshua D. Wolfe, 34, of 490 N. Seventh St., were found inside a vehicle parked perpendicular to the marked lines in the motel parking lot. After questioning, police submitted Weirick to field sobriety tests, which he failed, police said. Weirick refused to submit to chemical blood testing, and police found an aluminum pipe with burnt marijuana inside the center console, they allege.

Weirick, who was in the driver's seat, was also charged with driving under the influence of a controlled substance.

Their preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, are May 28.

Traffic violations

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrick J. McLaughlin, 33, of 203 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel, was charged with false reports to police, accidents involving damage to attended property and others crimes in the investigation of a Jan.. 5 accident between Mulberry and Birch streets on Route 61.

Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. said police investigated a vehicle over an embankment with the driver having left the scene. The vehicle was registered to McLaughlin, but he said a friend had wrecked it, but would not provide a name.

Police said they had located McLaughlin's phone in the vehicle.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for May 28.

Radiators stolen

ATLAS - Michelle L. Levengood, 24, of 105 W. Girard St., Apt. E, was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal mischief after police allege she and another individual trashed the apartment they were living in sometime between March 16 and 20. Also, two metal radiators were stolen.

The total loss is $5,940.

Mount Carmel Township Police Chief Brian Hollenbush said Levengood and the other individual sold the radiators to a metal recycler for $107.10

Levengood was arraigned before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on $20,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

House in disrepair

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police Chief Todd Owens charged Edward W. Spielberger, 72, of 211 W. Cherry St., Shenandoah, with a public nuisance violation because a house he owns at 241 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, has fallen into disrepair.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel.

Two charged

ATLAS - Patrick R. O'Brien, 26, of 129 S. Belvidere Ave., York, and Kellsie T. Hoskie, 20, of 128 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, were charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and public drunkenness at the Pine Burr Inn at 1:12 a.m. March 12.

Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman David Stamets Jr. said the pair were knocking to get into the establishment and exhibited signs of impairment. A hypodermic needle was found in Hoskie's bag, police said.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and preliminary hearings are scheduled for May 28.

Stolen metal sold

MOUNT CARMEL - Justin M. Schoppy, 21, of 229 W. Seventh St., was charged with theft by unlawful taking, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy after he allegedly took scrap aluminum and other metal items from the former Lapinski Lumber Co., Seventh and Vine streets, between Dec. 11 and 24, then sold them for $682.44.

Schoppy was arraigned and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel.

DUI charges filed

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Joselle M. Cutrufello, 44, of 223 Grand St., Danville, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence and was cited for careless driving and failure to drive at a minimum speed after a traffic stop at 10 p.m. Feb. 23 near the Washery Car Wash, Route 61.

Township police Patrolman Daniel Politza said Cutrufello failed field sobriety tests and that chemical testing showed her blood-alcohol level was .226 percent. The legal limit is .08.

A preliminary hearing before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, is scheduled for May 28.

Retail theft

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Beth E. Morgan, 41 of 215 S. Poplar St., Mount Carmel, was charged with a felony count of retail theft and a misdemeanor charge of receiving stolen property after she allegedly stole a personal care item valued at $33.99 from the CVS Pharmacy on the Locust Gap Highway March 9.

Police met the store manager outside when they arrived, and were told the suspect had fled the CVS and went into the neighboring Boyer's Food Market. Police later learned that a Boyer's employee unknowingly allowed Morgan to leave through a loading dock door.

Morgan was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Daniel Politza and arraigned Wednesday on the charges before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel, and released on $10,000 unsecured bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Wednesday.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police Patrolman Chad Yoder cited Joshua Hill, 28, of 142 N. Second St., Mount Carmel, for allegedly scattering rubbish after several pieces of mail belonging to him were found amidst household rubbish in a wooded area to the rear of Coal Run.

Retail theft

KULPMONT - Christine L. Jeffrey, of 554 Chestnut St., Apt. 1, was charged with a misdemeanor count of retail theft after allegedly taking a can of dog food from the Fuel On convenience store at 1:33 p.m. Monday, April 7.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for May 28 before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Mount Carmel.

Retail thefts

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has charged three local residents with retail theft involving incidents at Walmart Supercenter on Route 61.

Ashley Knopp, 24, and Justin Schoppy, 21, both of Mount Carmel, were charged with misdemeanors of retail theft and criminal conspiracy for allegedly stealing $70 in merchandise April 6.

Melanie Guinther, 32, of Elysburg, was charged with a felony of retail theft for allegedly removing $55 in merchandise April 2. She was previously charged with the same offense multiple times.

Trespass

COAL TOWNSHIP - James Latshaw, 47, of 126 E. Arch St., Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Chad Yoder for trespassing relating to an incident at 3:15 p.m. Wednesday in which he attempted to remove scrap from a property in Tharptown.

Police said the property owner caught Latshaw attempting to steal the scrap.

Liquor law violations

MONTOURSVILLE - The Pennsylvania State Police Bureau of Liquor Control Enforcement has cited West End Fire Association, 1254 Maple St., Kulpmont, and Sam Pasky Distributor, 327 S. Market St., Mount Carmel, for liquor law violations.

West End Fire Association was cited Thursday for paying for purchases of malt or brewed beverages with other licensee checks, cashier checks or money orders multiple times in February.

Sam Pasky Distributor was cited Thursday for receiving payment for the purchase of malt or brewed beverages with other than licensee checks, cashier checks or money orders and selling malt or brewed beverages on credit in October, November, December and January.

DUI

COAL TOWNSHIP - Stephen V. Stadnicki Jr., 35, of 753 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was charged by Cpl. Terry Ketchem with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and one count of careless driving relating to a March 23 accident at the intersection of Feeney Street and Route 61 near McDonald's.

Police reported Stadnicki had a blood-alcohol content of .429 percent.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Joshua L. Scandle, 34, of Shamokin, who is currently an inmate at Northumberland County Prison, was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with retail theft for allegedly stealing items having a total value of $11.27 from Turkey Hill Minit Market on Second Street Jan. 4.

One hurt in crash

DORNSIFE - Roger D. Bass Jr., 28, of Dornsife, was listed in serious condition Monday afternoon after a car accident at 10:40 p.m. Friday in Jackson Township.

State police at Stonington said Bass was traveling south and negotiating a left hand curve on Route 225 in a 2001 Ford Focus when the vehicle traveled off the west edge of the road and struck a road sign, a wooden fence post and two trees. The Focus slid 20 feet down an embankment, where it stopped.

MC driver fair

MOUNT CARMEL - The driver injured in a Sunday afternoon crash on Sixth Street is listed in fair condition, according to a Geisinger Medical Center spokesperson.

Paul Radzai, 57, of 317 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was injured when the Mitsubishi Galant he was driving was struck in the passenger side by a tractor-trailer driven by David Davis, 25, of Baltimore, Md., who said the truck's brakes failed while he was descending the Merriam Mountain. Davis and a female passenger were not injured in the crash.

Borough Police Chief Todd Owens said Monday the accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.

Disorderly conduct

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police Patrolman Chris Williams cited Frank M. Bogus, 53, of 1011 W. Spruce St., and Michael J. Bogus, 47, of 1003 W. Spruce St., Coal Township, for disorderly conduct after they allegedly threatened Kermit Britton at 1:30 p.m. Saturday in the 800 block of Cliff Street.

Minor injury

MONROE TOWNSHIP - A Port Trevorton man suffered a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash at 12:05 p.m. Thursday on Lori Lane.

State police at Selinsgrove report a 2008 Lincoln MKX, driven by Marilyn Kauffman, 78, of Dornsife, and a 2003 Chevrolet Cavalier, driven by Michael A. Graybill, 47, of Port Trevorton, were stopped at a red light on Lori Lane. When the light turned green and traffic started moving, the MKX struck the rear of a utility trailer the Cavalier was towing.

Police cited Kauffman for following too closely.

Outdoor burning

COAL TOWNSHIP - Robert Forry, 22, of 421 N. Shamokin St., Apartment 2-6, Shamokin, will be cited by township police for outdoor burning after he started and maintained a fire on Stoney Point Sunday evening.

Police remind residents burning is not allowed in Coal Township.

Theft of services

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington report charges are not being filed at this time against three known 16-year-old juveniles who ordered and ate meals at The Den restaurant April 16 and left without paying.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Luis C. Harrington, 30, of 1008 W. Lynn St., was charged with scattering rubbish by Coal Township Police Patrolman Chris Williams after an incident at 11:53 a.m. Sunday in the Third Patch section of Bear Valley Road.

According to police, Harrington placed pieces of wood and tree branches along the roadway.

Door struck

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Colton J. Trego, 24, of Herndon, reported the driver's door of his 2004 Ford F-350 truck was damaged when it was struck at 10:46 p.m. on Route 225.

State police at Stonington said Trego was stopped in the southbound lane of Route 225 with his driver's door open while checking on an accident that had just occurred. Police said Trego was 20 feet away and down a 10-foot bank when his door was struck by another vehicle, which he could not identify.

Assault

KULPMONT - State police at Stonington continue to investigate an assault that occurred at 11:30 p.m. Saturday at 935 Scott St.

Police said a known male, 23, allegedly entered the home of Steven Poe, 27, and assaulted him and Amber Wondoloski, 27, of 1007 Chestnut St., before fleeing the scene.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Eric D. Smith, 42, of 209 S. Franklin St., was cited for criminal mischief by City Police Patrolman First Class Scott Weaver after he allegedly wrote "no parking" and painted lines on a city street with spray paint on the 200 block of North Franklin Street at 7:05 p.m. April 20.

Harassment

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Two individuals, a 16-year-old male and a 43-year-old male, both from Sunbury, were cited for harassment after the two were involved in a physical altercation at 6:20 p.m. Monday on Miller Road.

Fight investigation

HERNDON - State police at Stonington said charges are pending after an altercation at a South Main Street residence.

Police said a known 31-year-old male from Herndon and a 34-year-old female from Herndon were involved in an altercation at 10:30 a.m. Monday, when the male allegedly struck the female in the head twice with a closed fist.

Identity theft

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Russell L. Chamberlain, 49, of Paxinos, informed state police at Stonington he was told April 14 his social security number had been compromised by the IRS after filing his federal tax income return. Police report the investigation continues.

Simple assault

TREVORTON - Stephan L. Snyder Jr., 44, of 739 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a disturbance Tuesday morning at his residence.

Police reported Snyder is accused of striking his wife, Michelle Marie Snyder, at 5:30 a.m., causing a substantial cut on the bridge of her nose that required two stitches. Police said the victim also suffered swollen eyes as a result of the assault.

Endangers tot

COAL TOWNSHIP - Brittany Brown, 23, of 24 S. Sherman St., Coal Township, has been charged by Patrolman Matthew Henrich with endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly overdosing on heroin.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Brown is accused of leaving her boyfriend's 3-year-old son at 24 S. Sherman St. between 6 and 8 a.m. April 2 while she went to a house in the 300 block of North Shamokin Street to meet a friend to buy drugs.

Police said Brown reportedly overdosed on heroin at her friend's residence and later admitted to EMS personnel that she left the child alone.

SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 23 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n William L. McCollum, 33, of 146 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, making an abrupt right turn without activating his turn signal, failure to drive in a single lane, failure to obey traffic control devices, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges were filed by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 9 incident at Market and Lincoln streets in Shamokin.

n David Charles Carper, 25, of 1800 Hosta Road, Paxinos, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, failure to possess a registration card, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to drive in a single lane.

The charges filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington relate to a March 8 vehicle stop at the intersection of Routes 61 and 901 in Coal Township.

n Andrew Kevin Derck, 26, of 1317 W. Arch St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

The charge was filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 23 five-mile police chase that started at the intersection of Hospital Road and Route 61 at Tharptown and culminated when the truck Derck was a passenger in became disabled near Juniper and Owl streets in the west end of the township.

n Kendall L. Kehler, 34, of 130 E. Dewart St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, hit and run and careless driving relating to a Dec. 14 accident in the 100 block of East Lincoln Street.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle.

n Kimberly A. Olearnick, 27, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of criminal trespass, burglary and theft involving a Feb. 20 burglary at the home of Andrea Taylor, 1726 W. Chestnut St.

Police said Olearnick stole $30 in change from the residence.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn.

n Gerald Lee Bojanac, 26, of 405 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. Additional charges of access device fraud, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

A co-defendant in the case, Kenneth Elliott Jr., 24, of 1222 W. Willow St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and access device fraud.

Bojanac and Elliott were charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski with stealing a debit card from Jennifer Sands and withdrawing hundreds of dollars from an ATM without her knowledge Jan. 12.

Corruption of minors

SHAMOKIN - Joseph Miscavage, 20, of 128 Tharp St., Coal Township, was charged with corruption of minors and conspiracy to commit theft April 25.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II said a juvenile told the officer Miscavage and another juvenile encouraged and threatened to harm him if he didn't try to steal tip jars from several businesses in the city.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Matthew Hashuga has charged Carrie E. Feudale, 23, of 1133 W. Wood St., Coal Township, with retail theft.

Police reported Feudale allegedly stole a home theater system valued at $208 from Walmart Supercenter on Route 61 March 2.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Scott Weaver charged Taralese R. Mallory, 23, of 401 N. Shamokin St., Shamokin, with possession of Ecstasy, possession with intent to deliver Ecstasy, disorderly conduct and public drunkenness relating to a March 16 disturbance in the first block of South Market Street.

Furnishes alcohol

SHAMOKIN - Kevin A. Clark, 22, of 626 W. Pine St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with two counts of selling or furnishing alcohol to minors, a lighting violation and restriction on alcoholic beverages.

Police reported Clark possessed an open alcoholic beverage in his vehicle and allowed James R. Snyder Jr., 18, of 8 W. Sunbury St., Shamokin and a 15-year-old Coal Township female to consume alcohol while he was driving a vehicle at 1:30 a.m. Saturday on Second Street near Turkey Hill Minit Market.

Snyder and the female were both cited for underage drinking by Siko.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Two men were charged with misdemeanor offenses following a fight at 3:30 p.m. April 21 in the 300 block of South Rock Street.

Shamokin Police Patrolman Raymond Siko II reported in court documents that Nathan Becker, 25, and Harry Baughman, 54, both of 331 S. Rock St., Shamokin, were involved in a physical altercation. Police said Becker was bleeding from the hand and Baughman was bleeding from the head and experienced swelling of the jaw and redness and abrasions on his abdomen. Each man told police the other attacked first. Police said Baughman kept screaming profanities at Becker while in the presence of police and continued to curse while being treated in the emergency room.

Police charged Becker with misdemeanor counts of simple assault and disorderly conduct and a summary offense of harassment. Baughman was charged with a misdemeanor count of disorderly conduct and summary offenses of disorderly conduct, harassment and public drunkenness.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Matthew B. Raynor, 27, of 101 S. Franklin St., Shamokin, was charged with two counts of driving under the influence, careless driving and driving without a license following a traffic stop after Raynor almost hit a Coal Township Police vehicle at Race and Pearl streets.

Chemical testing of Raynor's blood showed a blood alcohol level was over the legal limit. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Public nuisance

SHAMOKIN - Katy Ann Dunaway, 31, of 1688 Fairview Road, McClure, was charged with a public nuisance violation by Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for failing to take care and repair a property she owns at 102 S. Pearl St.

Police reported in court documents that Dunaway failed to respond to five summary citations filed against her.

The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.

Garbage violation

SHAMOKIN - Samantha Bell, 25, of 417 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for allowing garbage to be piled up in her front and back yards at 5 p.m. Tuesday.

Crash at 901-81 injures man

FOSTER TOWNSHIP - Harry T. Parfitt, 39, of Mount Carmel, suffered head and neck injuries Thursday afternoon in a two-vehicle accident on Route 901 near an on-ramp for Interstate 81 in this Schuylkill County township.

State police at Frackville reported Parfitt was transported by Minersville Ambulance to Schuylkill Medical Center East in Pottsville.

Police said Douglas Moyer, 71, of Hazleton, was driving a 2008 Chevrolet CK 1500 truck west at about 12:30 p.m. when he attempted to turn left to enter the southbound interstate on-ramp and traveled directly into the path of Parfitt's 2004 Pontiac Grand Prix. Police said Parfitt locked up his brakes, causing his car to skid forward and strike the rear right side of the truck.

Moyer's vehicle spun 180 degrees clockwise before coming to a halt along the on-ramp. Parfitt's auto came to rest at the southwest corner of the interchange.

Moyer escaped injury. Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts.

Moyer was cited by Trooper Edward Sanchez for making an improper left turn.

Both vehicles were towed.

Assisting at the scene were members of Good Will Hose Company, Minersville.

Criminal mischief

PAXINOS - State police at Stonington reported someone damaged mailboxes belonging to David Swank and Jeffrey Dunkelberger at 1997 and 1999 Irish Valley Road between 10 p.m. Saturday and 8 a.m. Sunday.

Plants stolen

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Six Azalea plants and four hanging flower baskets were stolen from Lloyd's Landscaping Inc. along Route 890 between 10 p.m. Thursday and 7 a.m. Friday.

State police at Stonington are investigating the theft.

Hit and run

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are continuing their search today for a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident Friday afternoon on Black Mill Road, approximately 150 yards north of Route 61.

Police said the vehicle was traveling south at 3:47 p.m. when it veered off the road and hit a traffic sign before continuing south and fleeing the scene.

Anyone with information about the accident is urged to call state police at 570-286-5601.

Cardboard set on fire

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Someone destroyed a small amount of cardboard in the back of a storage trailer owned by Max E. Baslick Company, Sunbury, by setting fire to it Friday morning.

State police at Stonington said a vagrant reportedly used the storage trailer as shelter.

Fence cut

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Jamie E. Fisher, 37, of Sunbury, told state police at Stonington that someone cut a wire nylon fence used to contain chickens on her property, causing $200 in damage.

Police said the criminal mischief occurred between April 28 and Thursday.

Minor injury

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Abraham J. Suarez, 56, of Milton, suffered minor injuries to his left arm and back Saturday morning in a two-vehicle crash at the intersection of Bridge Avenue (Route 147) and Island Boulevard.

State police at Stonington reported Robert M. Underhill, 26, of Sunbury, had his 1998 Jeep Cherokee stopped for a stop sign on Island Boulevard when he entered the intersection in an attempt to travel south on Bridge Avenue. Police said the front end of Underhill's vehicle struck the passenger side of a 1998 Chevrolet Blazer operated by Suarez, who was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Underhill, who was cited for a stop sign violation, and his passenger, Cheryl Underhill, 29, of Sunbury, escaped injury.

Car rolls on roof

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Two people escaped injury Friday morning when a 2007 Ford Focus they were riding in traveled off Route 147 and landed on its roof.

According to state police at Stonington, Sean E. Snoddy, 30, of Allenwood, was driving south in the right lane of Route 147 at 7:14 a.m. in a passing zone when he attempted to pass another vehicle traveling south in the left lane. While approaching the end of the passing zone, Snoddy attempted to pass the other vehicle on the right and traveled onto the right shoulder. Snoddy then lost control of his car, which struck an embankment on the right side of the road before rolling onto its roof in the southbound lane and coming to rest.

Police said Snoddy and his passenger, Mark A. Shearer, 32, of Milton, were wearing seat belts and escaped injury.

Police said Snoddy was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Car hits pole

JACKSON TOWNSHIP - Adam L. Wolfgang, 33, of Lykens, was not injured Friday morning when his 2005 Chevrolet Malibu struck a utility pole along Route 225 north of State Route 3010.

State police at Stonington said Wolfgang was driving north at 8:48 a.m. when he fell asleep, causing his car to exit the east side of the highway, where it struck and severed a utility pole.

The auto sustained disabling front-end damage and was towed from the scene.

Police said Wolfgang was wearing a seat belt.

Police said Wolfgang will be cited in connection with the crash.

Deer vs. car

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington investigated an accident Saturday night involving a car striking a deer along Snydertown Road near Clay Pond Road.

Police reported Jo B. Powell, 56, of Danville, was driving west at 8:46 p.m. when a deer ran into the path of her 2004 Saturn Vue, resulting in a collision.

Powell and her 15-year-old male passenger from Catawissa escaped injury.

Mailboxes damaged

STONINGTON - State police here are investigating damage done Sunday morning to mailboxes along Mahantongo Creek Road in Lower Mahanoy Township and Cemetery Road in Jordan Township.

Victims included Dalmatia residents Roddy K. Acker, 64; Terry L. Lahr, 66; Ella M. Mavretic, 69; Sandra E. Mattern, 69; Richard G. Zeiders, 62, and Jared W. Shade, 35.

Police said two PennDOT road signs also were damaged.

Any others victims in the Mahantongo Creek area are asked to report damage to state police at 570-286-5601.
