Accident details

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington have released details of a four-vehicle accident Monday afternoon on Route 61 between Stonington and Meadowview.

Police reported Katie T. Thompson, 21, of Coal Township, was driving a 1995 Ford Explorer XLT south on Route 61 at 3:43 p.m. when she attempted to turn left into a driveway to turn around, but pulled into the path of a 1991 Peterbilt Conventional 375 truck operated by Dean E. Rinehart, 56, of Selinsgrove, who was traveling north on Route 61.

After hitting the tri-axle truck, the sport utility vehicle spun counter clockwise across both lanes of the highway and hit a 2008 Toyota Prius parked along the west berm. The Prius was pushed backward into a 2005 Toyota 4-runner.

Thompson suffered a moderate injury and was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville. Thompson was listed Tuesday in fair condition, according to a hospital spokeswoman.

Reinhart suffered a minor injury.

Thompson was cited for a turning violation.

Flight to avoid apprehension

SHAMOKIN - Kevin Douglas Henry, 38, of Philadelphia, has been charged by Shamokin Cpl. Bryan Primerano with flight to avoid apprehension, false identification to law enforcement authorities and possession of drug paraphernalia relating to a Dec. 14, 2009, incident at 412 N. Rock St., Apt. C.

Police said Henry, who was wanted by Philadelphia police on a bench warrant for possessing a firearm without a license, fled from Shamokin police in early 2010 after providing them with a false name. He was taken into custody in Philadelphia after a traffic stop Saturday. Henry was picked up Monday by Primerano and Shamokin Police Chief Edward Griffiths at a police precinct in Philadelphia before being transported to Northumberland County.

Henry was arraigned Tuesday morning by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones of Mount Carmel and committed on the charges filed by Primerano to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $75,000 bail.

Drug paraphernalia

MOUNT CARMEL - Kylee E. Wargo, 23, of 600 W. Girard St., Atlas, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Dillman with possession of drug paraphernalia.

Police reported Wargo possessed a syringe and two ripped portions of heroin bags at the Avenue and Maple Street on May 30.

Forgery

KULPMONT - Shauna L. Nahodil, 32, of 410 N. Rock St., Shamokin, was charged by Chief of Police Richard Wilson III with forgery, identity theft, theft by deception, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking relating to a June 17, 2011, incident at Susquehanna Bank on Chestnut Street.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Nahodil is accused of writing checks payable to her mother, Sandra Nahodil, from the defendant's closed account, Police said Nahodil signed her mother's name on the checks and cashed them at local banks. One of the checks was cashed in the amount of $130 at Susquehanna Bank.

Theft charges

MOUNT CARMEL - Brandie Reichenbach, 19, of 819 W. Sixth St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman William Adamski with criminal conspiracy to commit theft, two counts of receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.

Reichenbach is charged in connection with the theft of a vehicle owned by Raphael Adinolfi, of 110 N. Maple St., Mount Carmel, and a license plate from a car registered to Ronald Clark, of 215 E. Second St., Mount Carmel.

Police said the vehicle was stolen from the first block of North Orange Street between May 5 and May 6.

Tyler Michael Wondoloski, 19, of 802 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel; Courtney Elizabeth Swavely, 18, of 819 W. Sixth St., Mount Carmel; a 15-year-old borough male; a 13-year-old Mount Carmel boy, and a 14-year-old borough male were previously charged by police with the same offenses.

DUI, drug offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Michael J. Dewald, 18, of 333 N. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving without a license and a turning violation relating to an April 21 traffic stop on Route 61 near FNB Bank in Atlas.

Charges of possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia also were filed by Politza against Jacob Robert Guss, 19, of 307 N. Hickory St., Mount Carmel, in connection with the same incident.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL - Cpl. Christopher Buhay has charged Michael S. Bernatowicz, 57, of 233 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, with driving under the influence of alcohol, hit and run and careless driving in connection with a May 24 accident near his home.

Police said Bernatowicz registered a .29 percent on a preliminary breath test, but refused to submit to a blood test.

Shotgun stolen

LEWIS TOWNSHIP - State police at Milton are investigating the theft of a 20-gauge H&R Topper shotgun and go-kart owned by Paul Martin, 41, of 1345 Canada Drive, Lewis Township, on Sunday or Monday.
