Terroristic notes

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington are searching for two females between the ages of 10 and 14 who allegedly placed threatening notes in five mailboxes and on road signs on Mount Pleasant Road between 5:30 p.m. Saturday and 9 a.m. Sunday.

The victims include four males from Sunbury who are 59, 35, 39 and 28, and a 56-year-old Sunbury woman.

Anyone with information about the incident is urged to call police at 570-286-5601.

Tools stolen

LOWER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington reported someone stole approximately $2,000 in carpentry tools from a new home under construction along Little Mountain Road between May 12 and May 15.

Stolen from James Yocum, of Herndon, were two Stanley Bostitch framing nails, a Stanley Bostitch pancake air compressor, a Dewalt radio and battery charger, two Poulan chainsaws, a Kobalt seven-inch saw, two Bosch cordless impact drills, an electric hand planer, a router and Senco screw gun.

Motorcycle/deer collide

LOWER MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - Deneen R. Grimes, 48, of Montoursville, suffered a minor injury Saturday night when a motorcycle she was riding along Route 147 struck a deer.

According to state police at Stonington, Grimes was driving a 2008 Harley-Davidson Sportster in the 3100 block of Route 147 shortly after 8 p.m. when the deer ran out of the woods on the left side of the road and collided with the cycle. After hitting the deer, Grimes laid the cycle on its left side and skidded approximately 50 feet before coming to rest in a ditch.

Police said Grimes, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by Herndon Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.

Minor injury

STONINGTON - Stephanie B. Krieger, 25, of Sunbury, suffered a minor injury in a two-vehicle crash May 18 on Route 61 near Stonington Fire Company.

State police at Stonington reported Krieger was driving a 2000 Chevrolet Cavalier north at 3:30 p.m. when she stopped to turn left into a parking lot at Stonington Fire Company. Police said Krieger turned in front of a southbound 2006 Buick Lucerne operated by Gary W. Moyer Jr., 41, of Paxinos, causing a collision that resulted in extensive damage to the Cavalier. Krieger's vehicle spun clockwise 180 degrees before coming to rest along the road.

Krieger was taken by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital. Moyer escaped injury.

Krieger was cited for a turning violation.

Mower stolen

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - John James Clark, 57, of 1037 Irish Valley Road, reported someone stole his push mower from his property between May 8 and 15.

Three-vehicle accident

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Three people were injured in an accident involving three vehicles along Route 61 near Shamrock Road on May 22.

State police at Stonington said Marcia Sten, 63, of Shamokin, was driving a 2014 Jeep Cherokee south at 6:35 p.m. when she attempted to pull into a parking lot, but traveled into the path of a 2014 Dodge Durango driven north by Jonathon J. Anderson, 40, of Shamokin, causing a collision in the northbound lane. Sten's vehicle then bounced off Anderson's Durango and struck a 2012 Ford F-150 truck operated by Scott J. Friel, 43, of Beaver Springs, as Friel traveled onto the west berm in an attempt to avoid a collision.

Sten was cited for failure to drive in a single lane.

Sten and Anderson suffered minor injuries. Anderson's passenger, Kristie Anderson, 37, of Shamokin, suffered a moderate injury. They were treated at the scene by Elysburg Ambulance personnel. Three other passengers in Anderson's vehicle, a 6-year-old male, a 6-year-old female and a 10-year-old male, all of Shamokin, escaped injury as did Friel's passenger, Stephanie Friel, 40, of Beaver Springs.

Driver escapes injury

JORDAN TOWNSHIP - Lynn L. Deibert, 45, of Herndon, escaped injury May 20 when he swerved his vehicle to avoid striking a deer at the intersection of Routes 3018 and 49007.

According to state police at Stonington, Deibert was driving a 2002 Chevrolet K1500 at 9 p.m. when his vehicle veered off the road, entered a field and flipped over after avoiding a deer.

Domestic dispute

HERNDON - A 19-year-old Herndon man and a 22-year-old Pillow woman were cited by state police at Stonington for harassment involving a domestic disturbance at 6:45 a.m. May 11 at 1324 State Route 225.

Police said the female is accused of punching the male in the face. The male then grabbed the female and shoved her down, police reported. Both combatants sustained minor injuries.

Even though they are both adults, police did not release the names of the combatants because the incident involved a domestic dispute.

Vehicle recovered

MAHANOY TOWNSHIP - A stolen 1998 Audi A4 owned by Jeremy Orlando Toro, of Ranshaw, was recovered at 3:50 p.m. Sunday by state police at Frackville on Interstate 81 at northbound mile marker 131 in Mahanoy Township.

The vehicle was turned over to Shamokin police for further investigation.
