Conditions updated
DANVILLE - The condition of Sunbury resident Benjamin Herrold, who suffered serious injuries to his liver in a stabbing early Sunday outside a city tavern, has been upgraded from critical to serious, according to a spokeswoman at Geisinger Medical Center, Danville.
The condition of Herrold's friend, James Herb, who also was allegedly stabbed by Tyrone W. Lee, 27, of Plymouth, remained fair as of Thursday afternoon.
Sunbury police have not determined what triggered Lee to allegedly stab Herrold and Herb outside the FuBar, 13 N. Third St., shortly after 2 a.m. Lee had complied with a request by a bouncer to leave the tavern earlier in the evening because of his behavior and was given his knife back upon exiting the establishment located just off Market Street near Danley's Hotel and Bar by the railroad tracks.
Lee was taken into custody by police shortly after stabbing Herrold and Herb in the abdomen.
Herrold suffered a critical injury to his liver, while Herb was stabbed five times, causing injuries to his liver and abdomen, and cuts on his chest and right arm.
Police said Lee claimed he was attacked by two white males outside the bar and did not elaborate further.
Lee is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 9 a.m. Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge Benjamin Apfelbaum on two counts of attempted criminal homicide and related offenses.

After being pulled over by Kiefaber, Hartman jumped off his motorcycle, which fell onto its side, and came toward the officer while yelling to him not to run his information on the computer. Robbery, hindering apprehension
MOUNT CARMEL - Patrolman Matthew Dillman has charged Anamarie Soto, 25, of 24 E. Second St., Mount Carmel, with three counts of hindering apprehension and one count of resisting arrest.
Police said Soto lied to officers Tuesday about not knowing the whereabouts of her husband, Keith L. Berry, 23, who was wanted on felonies of robbery and aggravated assault. Police said Soto and Berry were located in an apartment at 50 N. Maple St. at about 8:15 p.m. Tuesday after officers received information that Berry was hiding there. Police reported Soto offered resistance as they attempted to take her into custody.
She was released on $25,000 bail at her arraignment before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.
Berry was charged by Dillman with two counts of robbery and simple assault and one count each of aggravated assault, theft and receiving stolen property involving a disturbance at 24 E. Second St. at 1:41 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said Berry is accused of striking Mary McGinley, of 131 W. Third St., Mount Carmel, in the face as she attempted to separate Berry and Soto from fighting. McGinley told police Berry wouldn't allow her to leave the residence and wrestled her cell phone from her so she couldn't call police for assistance.
Police said McGinley suffered injuries to her nose and face that required medical treatment at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital.
Berry was committed by Jones to Northumberland County Prison at SCI-Coal Township in lieu of $75,000 cash bail.
