Vehicle theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township police are investigating the theft of a tan 1995 Jeep Cherokee from the 1400 block of West Holly Street.

Police say the theft occurred sometime between Friday and Saturday. The Jeep has damage to the right front fender. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.

Retail theft

SHAMOKIN - Edward Balch, 19, of 219 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, was cited by Cpl. Jarrod Scandle for retail theft for allegedly stealing a $3 pack of Slim Jims from the Dollar General, 30 E. Independence St., at 8 p.m. April 12.

Criminal mischief

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Jarrod Scandle cited Melissa Ann Barker, 29, of 1333 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, for criminal mischief for smashing a window pane on the kitchen door at the residence of Nancy Miller, 319 E. Dewart St., Apt. 2, at 6:37 p.m. April 26.

Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Ian M. Hancock, 19, and Mark D. Melnick, 27, both of 218 W. Independence St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty Tuesday to possession of drug paraphernalia and were each ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.

An additional charge of possession of spice was withdrawn against both defendants.

Hancock and Melnick were charged by Coal Township Detective Jeff Brennan in connection with a Sept. 29 incident in the 1000 block of West Mulberry Street.

Spits at officer

COAL TOWNSHIP - Derek Clifton, 26, an inmate at SCI-Coal Township, has been charged by Trooper Kevin Kearney of state police at Stonington with aggravated harassment by a prisoner for spitting in the face of Sgt. Thomas Erdly while being informed of moving to a different cell at the prison March 23.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Jonathan M. Dupnock, 24, of 2315 Captain Bloom Road, Sunbury, has been charged by Trooper Nicholas Berger of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failing to report a change of address within 15 days, careless driving, a lighting violation and failing to wear a seat belt.

Police said the charges relate to an April 12 vehicle stop at Turkey Hill Minit Market on North Second Street in Shamokin.

Police reported Dupnock had a blood-alcohol content of .170 percent.

Theft charges

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Charges of theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass were filed by Trooper James Nestico of state police at Stonington against Casey D. Raab, 25, of 112 Short St., Ranshaw.

Police reported Raab is accused of stealing four Alcoa 24.5 aluminum truck wheels belonging to Jim Bressi from 1391 Old Reading Road, Shamokin Township.

Police said the theft occurred between March 13 and March 16.

The wheels have a scrap value of $120, police said.

Criminal mischief

COAL TOWNSHIP - Rachelle Lynn Maclaren, 19, of 838 W. Shamokin St., Trevorton, was charged by Patrolman Jason Adams with criminal mischief for allegedly kicking the front driver's side bumper of a car owned by Joseph Drost, causing $746.82 in damage.

Police said the incident occurred at 25 Eagle Ave. April 27.

Drug charges filed

SHAMOKIN - City police charged Clyde Metzger, 57, of 137 S. Sixth St., Shamokin, with possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia following a investigation into a drug purchase on March 24 on East Spurzheim Street.

According to court documents filed by Shamokin Police Patrolman Ray Siko II, Metzger was found with another individual during a controlled drug buy with a confidential informant. A search of Metzger's person found a plastic baggy with seven alprazolam tablets for which he did not have a prescription.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, and a preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 9.

DUI of drugs

SHAMOKIN - Charles C. Brunson Jr., 28, of 14 S. Market St., Shamokin, was charged with misdemeanor counts of driving under the influence of drugs, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia and summary offenses of unauthorized transfer of registration, operating a vehicle without financial responsibility and driving without a license following the investigation into a March 22 incident at Second and Pine streets.

After being found slumped over the wheel of his vehicle by pedestrians, Brunson allegedly drove away, striking two vehicles. Police found an uncapped syringe filled with a clear liquid inside Brunson's vehicle along with 42 white pills in a pill bottle later determined to be Tramadol, police said.

Blood testing showed that Brunson was allegedly under the influence of fentanl and norfentanyl at the time of the incident.

The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for June 9.

Drug charges

SHAMOKIN - Patrolman Raymond Siko II has charged Blaine M. Hoover IV, 25, of 1400 W. State St., Coal Township, with drug-related offenses following a May 1 disturbance at Turkey Hill Minit Market on North Second Street.

Hoover is charged with possession of suboxone, possession of drug paraphernalia and disorderly conduct.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Patrolman Kelly Campbell has charged Jordan M. Politza, 25, of 545 E. Second St., Mount Carmel, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, failure to drive in a single lane and restriction on alcoholic beverages.

Police said Politza, who had a blood-alcohol content of .274 percent, was charged in connection with an April 12 vehicle stop in the parking lot at Turkey Hill Minit Market in Strong.

Guilty pleas

MOUNT CARMEL - Two defendants pleaded guilty to charges Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones.

Danielle Marie Lawler, 22, of 125 Oak Lane, Shady Acres, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and public drunkenness and was fined $500 plus costs. Additional charges of resisting arrest and simple assault were withdrawn.

Lawler was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Kevin Katch in connection with a March 28 disturbance at North Oak and West Fourth streets.

Michael John Conches, 42, of 125 E. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus costs. An additional charge of receiving stolen property was withdrawn.

Conches was charged by Mount Carmel Lt. Christopher Buhay with stealing an envelope containing a $40 check for garbage collection from the mailbox of Leslie Mattucci, 407 W. Fourth St., on March 6.

Bad check

RALPHO TOWNSHIP - Cpl. Bryon Chowka has charged Tyler A. Heitzman, 30, of 680 Hebe Bypass Road, Herndon, with issuing a bad check in the amount of $344.85 to Miller's Gas & Oil on Route 61 in Weigh Scales Jan. 29.

DUI offenses

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Kelly A. Ozlanski, 41, of 963 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with two counts of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, failure to drive in a single lane and careless driving relating to a March 31 one-vehicle accident on Brennan's Farm Road near St. Mary's Cemetery.

Police said Ozlanski had Lorazepam and Benadryl in her blood system.

DUI on bicycle

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Nicholas Christian Elliott, 21, of 1240 Poplar St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with driving under the influence of marijuana, possession of marijuana, driving without a license, possession of drug paraphernalia and operating a bicycle at night without lights involving a March 21 incident between Brennan's Farm Road and Route 54.
