Crash
BARRY TOWNSHIP - Police said Tracy A. Snyder, 48, of Pitman, was uninjured after the engine of the 1999 Ford F250 she was driving north on Taylorsville Road, caught fire Tuesday.
The vehicle was fully engulfed in flames when the Lavelle and Pitman fire companies arrived to extinguish it. It was then towed from the scene.
Assault, drugs
MOUNT CARMEL - Carl Luke Fickinger, 41, of 145 S. Maple St., Mount Carmel, was arraigned Wednesday on misdemeanor charges of simple assault, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia and a summary offense of harassment after borough police chief Todd Owens said he struck a woman Wednesday.
Owens said the victim said Fickinger forced his way into the house by breaking the rear door and fell asleep. When he awoke, he began yelling at the victim and shoving her. He also grabbed and pulled her hair.
Fickinger ran from the scene after the victim called police and was located by Patrolman Brian Carnuccio of the Mount Carmel Borough police and David Tomtishen of the Mount Carmel Township police near the corner of Fifth and Apple streets. Owens found a piece of foil containing marijuana in Fickinger's possession during a pat-down, and Fickinger admitted he intended to smoke the marijuana after he finished working.
Fickinger was released on $5,000 unsecured bail.
Crash update
DANVILLE - Rosemary Sandoval, 20, of Chestnut Street, Kulpmont, was released from Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, Wednesday.
Sandoval had been injured when her car went out of control on Snydertown Road, left the road and rolled over Tuesday.
