Knife found at school
COAL TOWNSHIP - Detective Jeff Brennan has charged a 17-year-old male student at Shamokin Area High School with possessing a knife on school grounds relating to an incident at 8 a.m. April 22.
Police said the Coal Township teen was found in possession of a knife upon going through the school's metal detectors.
The charge was filed through Northumberland County Juvenile Court Services.
Ordinance violations
COAL TOWNSHIP - Coal Township Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich cited Marcos Velazquez, of 950 W. Pine St., Coal Township, and William Register, of 35 S. Poplar St., Coal Township, for violating ordinances pertaining to garbage accumulation at properties they own.
Velazquez is accused of allowing garbage and a box spring to accumulate in a rear yard at 939 W. Pine St. Register is charged with allowing approximately 40 bags of garbage to accumulate on the front porch at his home.
The citations were filed Friday.
Guilty pleas
SHAMOKIN - Two defendants pleaded guilty to charges Tuesday and were ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay fines and costs.
Tina Moyle, 41, of 425 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 4, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on consecutive probation for one year.
Moyle was charged by Shamokin Chief of Police Darwin Tobias III with possessing a tin foil smoking pipe at her apartment March 11.
Gary E. Dombroski Jr., 29, of 1115 W. Arch St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a summary of harassment and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs. An additional charge of simple assault was withdrawn.
Dombroski was charged by Coal Township Patrolman Christopher Williams with throwing his mother, Sandra Dombroski, to the floor April 19 at their home.
Car fire
FRACKVILLE - Police said Jennifer L. Honicker, 37, of Locust Gap, escaped injury when the 2008 Subaru Legacy she was driving along I-81 in Foster Township caught fire shortly after 2 p.m. Tuesday.
Trooper Edward Sanchez extinguished the blaze and the vehicle was towed.
