Three plead guilty in separate hearings

SHAMOKIN - Three defendants pleaded guilty Tuesday during separate preliminary hearings before Magisterial District Judge John E. Gembic III, while all charges were withdrawn against a fourth defendant.

n Three counts of theft by unlawful taking were withdrawn against Jeremy D. Weikel, 39, of 427 Main St., Coal Township, after a settlement was reached with the victim. Weikel was accused of stealing $4,500 in items between November 2013 and May 2014 from a Coal Township property owned by Dave McGuinn, of Paxinos.

n Kevin R. Manning, 57, of Box 373, Coal Township RR 3, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was ordered to pay a $500 fine plus court costs. A count of summary harassment was withdrawn. Charges were filed related to a fight Aug. 30 outside Brady Fire Co. in Ranshaw.

n Matthew Fabian, 19, of 51 Mountain Road, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct. He was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus court costs, and serve one year of supervised probation. Counts of possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled or counterfeit substance were withdrawn. Fabian was a passenger in a vehicle stopped at a sobriety checkpoint Sept. 20 along Route 61 near the Shamokin/Coal Township line.

n Tiffany Vezo, 22, of 9 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, pleaded guilty to a harassment citation. She was ordered to pay a $100 fine plus court costs. Counts of simple assault and harassment were withdrawn. Charges stemmed from a fight at her home Dec. 13.
