School assault
COAL TOWNSHIP - Four students, a 17-year-old and three 15-year-old students, were charged with disorderly conduct following a fight in a third floor hallway of the Shamokin Area Middle/High School Dec. 15.
According to Coal Township Police, several teachers had to break up the fight, and a female teacher was pushed to the ground. Her knee was injured and required treatment from the school nurse.
One 15-year-old student was also charged with aggravated assault and simple assault by police.
Public nuisance
SHAMOKIN - City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano charged Jhoel R. Leonardo-Gonzalez, 33, of 22-11 Brookhaven Ave., Apartment 5F, Far Rockaway, N.Y., with a misdemeanor crime of public nuisances after failing to respond to 11 citations and code violation letters in a 11-month period.
Leonard-Gonzalez is the owner of record of 625-627 E. Commerce St., Shamokin, which has a number of code and safety problems, including portions of the building being in danger of collapsing, detached sicing and rain gutters, high weeds outside and broken glass inside.
The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on Dec. 18, with a preliminary hearing scheduled for Jan. 27.
Disruption
COAL TOWNSHIP - Two students, a 16-year-old male and a 17-year-old male, from Shamokin Area Middle/High School, were cited for disorderly conduct after the two engaged in a fight during a program at the school at 2 p.m. Monday in the school's auditorium.
School district employees were able to remove both students and the program resumed.
Criminal mischief
MILLERSBURG - Misty Lynn Dunbar, 19, of Elizabethville, and a 17-year-old Millersburg female were charged with criminal mischief by state police at Lykens following an incident at 10:34 a.m. Monday in the BG's Market parking lot.
According to police, Dunbar and the female drove to the market and parked next to an unattended vehicle driven by a 17-year-old Dalmatia female. The Millersburg teen then stabbed the Dalmatia female's rear passenger tire several times before the two fled the scene.
The incident was captured on security cameras outside the market.
The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge Rebecca Jo Margerum, of Elizabethville.
Simple assault
SHAMOKIN - Tiffany M. Vezo, 22, of 9 Raspberry Hill, Shamokin, was charged with simple assault and harassment following a fight at her residence at 5:05 p.m. Dec. 13.
According to court documents filed by Shamokin City Police Patrolman Scott Weaver, Vezo got into a fight with her boyfriend. Vezo allegedly pushed him out the door, bit his arm and kicked him in the groin.
Charges were filed Dec. 18 with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
Retail theft
COAL TOWNSHIP - A charge of retail theft was filed against Beverly Ann Deskie, 52, of 629 Logan Run Road, Danville. According to police, Deskie allegedly tried to leave Walmart without paying for $118.65 worth of clothing Nov. 22.
Deskie will have a preliminary hearing on the charge Jan. 27 before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin.
Drug paraphernalia
SHAMOKIN - Whitney M. Bostian, 24, of 1013 N. Franklin St., was charged with retail theft and possession of drug paraphernalia following an incident at the Dollar General store, 30 E. Independence St., at 8:58 p.m. Thursday.
Shamokin City Police Cpl. Bryan Primerano reported in court documents store personnel detained Bostian for allegedly concealing $36.32 in items underneath her clothing.
Police searched Bostian and found heroin wrappers in her purse. The charges were filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, of Shamokin. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Jan. 27.
