Guilty pleas

SHAMOKIN - Two defendants entered guilty pleas earlier this week.

Daren Albertson, 26, of 217 Third St., Ranshaw, pleaded guilty to possession of drug paraphernalia and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III to pay a $200 fine plus costs and was placed on probation for nine months.

Albertson was charged by Coal Township Cpl. Joshua Wynn in connection with a Sept. 27 incident on Route 61 in Luke Fidler.

Amanda M. Lotis, 31, of 137 W. Avenue, Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $268. Additional charges of criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

Lotis was charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman William Adamski with conspiring with Jody Valentine Foulke, of Elysburg, to steal cans from a storage bin outside the Mount Carmel Elks, 128 N. Oak St., on Oct. 14.

Simple assault

SHAMOKIN - Cody Z. Horne, 19, of 221 S. Diamond St., Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Raymond Siko II with simple assault and harassment after he allegedly assaulted his mother, Janet Willis, at their home Monday afternoon.

Police reported Horne is accused of shoving Willis with both hands against a kitchen sink, causing a chest injury. Police said Willis also experienced trouble breathing.

Willis, who claimed Horne eats all the food in the house and smokes all her cigarettes, told police her son smashed items inside the home and threatened to beat her.

Horne was arraigned Monday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III and committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $5,000 cash bail.

Multiple charges

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Bryan A. Olimpo, 24, of 5 N. Sport Lane, Locust Gap, has been charged by Patrolman Kelly Campbell with altering or forging a registration plate, driving under suspension, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession of a controlled substance, driving without a license, driving without proper registration, failing to wear protective equipment while operating a motorcycle and driving without insurance.

The charges relate to a Sept. 19 incident on Locust Gap Highway.

Police said Olimpo admitted smoking marijuana and injecting himself with Subutex. Olimpo refused to submit to a blood-alcohol test.

Code violations

SHAMOKIN - The owners of several blighted properties in Shamokin were cited Wednesday by City police Cpl. Bryan Primerano for failing to fix their structures. All the property owners were previously sent a certified code letter advising them of the code violations, with no response or corrections made, Primerano said, and were cited three previous times by city code officer Rick Bozza, also with no response.

Cited were:

- Allen C. Norbert, 46, of 956 E. 106th St., Brooklyn, N.Y. for his property at 315 W. Pine St.

- Daniel Buranich Jr., 50, of 152 Bates Road, Shamokin, for his property at 24 E. Willow St.

- William R. Williams, of RR4 Box 220, Sunbury, for his property at 7 S. Shamokin St.

- Anthony Venturino, of 150 Bear Path Road, Hamden, Conn., for his property at 661 Bear Valley Ave.

DUI

KULPMONT - Dylan Blum, 22, of 412 N. Shamokin St., Apt. 2-4, Kulpmont, was charged by Chief of Police Michael Pitcavage with driving under the influence of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a combination of drugs, possession with intent to use drug paraphernalia, a red light violation and failure to drive in a single lane.

Police said Blum was observed driving erratically in Kulpmont and Coal Township on Aug. 27 and was stopped in the 400 block of Chestnut Street in Kulpmont.

Police reported Blum had heroin, codeine and morphine in his blood system.

Strikes man

MOUNT CARMEL - Monique L. Korte, 32, of 429 N. Market St., was cited with harassment by Lt. Christopher Buhay. Police say she struck Derek Bair in the face about 10:50 a.m. Nov. 2.
