Car hits sign, truck

SHAMOKIN - No injuries were reported Monday morning when a car struck a construction sign and a parked and unoccupied 2011 Dodge truck at the intersection of Shamokin and Chestnut streets.

Shamokin police reported Evelyn Madrak, 17, of Shamokin, was driving a 1995 Pontiac north on Shamokin Street at 7:20 a.m. when she couldn't see out of her windshield due to ice that wasn't properly cleared off. Madrak's auto hit the sign and front of the truck owned by Brubacher Excavating, Bowmansville, which was conducting work in the first block of North Shamokin Street.

Neither vehicle required towing.

An investigation is continuing.

Cpl. Bryan Primerano and Patrolman Nathan Rhodes responded.

Two injured

UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - Two women were injured Monday afternoon in an accident at the intersection of Snydertown Road and Black Mill Road.

Trooper Thomas Leib of state police at Stonington reported Angel J. Clark, 31, of Kulpmont, was driving a 2014 Toyota Corolla east on Snydertown Road at 4:10 p.m. when Amber K. Reed, 21, of Sunbury, who was operating a 2000 Dodge Stratus west, attempted to turn left onto Black Mill Road. Police said Reed pulled her car directly into the path of Clark's auto, resulting in a collision.

Clark was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, while Reed was taken by Americus Ambulance to Sunbury Community Hospital. Both women suffered moderate injuries.

Police said Reed, who was not wearing a seat belt, was cited for a left turn violation.

Clark was wearing a seat belt, police said.

Also assisting were fire and rescue personnel from Upper Augusta Township and members of Friendship Hose Company in Sunbury.
