Three cases were settled during preliminary hearings held Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.
n Charges of simple assault, harassment and disorderly conduct against Matthew S. Deitz. 24, of 129 W. Third St., second floor, Mount Carmel, were withdrawn when the victim refused to testify.
Deitz was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Cpl. David Donkochik following a disturbance at 315 S. Locust St. July 23.
n Christina Snyder, 33, of 254 W. Saylor St., Atlas, pleaded guilty to a seat belt violation and was ordered to pay fines and court costs totaling $165.
Snyder was charged by Mount Carmel Township Police Patrolman Kelly Campbell following a traffic stop on Route 61 in Atlas Aug. 24.
A charge of illegally operating a motor vehicle not equipped with an ignition interlock system was withdrawn in the case.
n Samantha Joseph, 21, of 323 S. Grape St., Mount Carmel, entered a no-contest plea to a summary charge of harassment and was sentenced to time already served in Northumberland County Prison.
She was charged by Mount Carmel Borough Police Patrolman Justin Stelma after a Sept. 1 incident at 225 E. Avenue when she allegedly threw her son approximately 10 feet onto a couch. She had been in prison since her Sept. 23 arraignment.
Charges of endangering the welfare of a child and simple assault were withdrawn in the case.
