Police reported Daniels began drooling and fondling himself and initially refused to acknowledge Buhay before resisting arrest. Police were forced to carry Daniels to a cruiser and also had to carry him into the police station.

Police found a beer can lying in the park near Daniels, who stated he was drunk.

Multiple charges

SHAMOKIN - A 14-year-old East Cameron Township boy has been charged with Patrolman Scott Weaver with multiple offenses, including felonies for endangering the public, in connection with incidents that occurred Friday.

The officer said the teen has been charged through a juvenile petition with fleeing or eluding and more than 10 other related offenses.

Weaver said the juvenile was driving an all-terrain vehicle erratically on sidewalks and several streets in the Fifth Ward before wedging the ATV between a parked truck and a car driven by Mike Geiswite, of Sunbury Street, Shamokin, in the 500 block of South Pearl Street near Anthracite Provision Co. before speeding away.

Weaver said no injuries occurred, but the truck and car sustained minor damage shortly before 5 p.m.

The officer said the ATV operator fled the scene several times into a wooded area toward Big Mountain before returning to the Fifth Ward as if he was challenging police to catch him. He said the operator may have been under the influence of a controlled substance.

Police searched the area for the driver for a couple hours before apprehending him after he crashed the ATV into Geiswite's car on Pulaski Avenue in the Springfield section of the township. Weaver said Geiswite went looking for the ATV rider after his vehicle was struck on South Pearl Street.

The teen was taken to Northwestern Academy in Coal Township.

Pomponio was charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with stealing $20 off the bar at Quinny's Pub at Market and Mulberry streets Aug. 21.

A charge of theft was withdrawn.
