High grass

COAL TOWNSHIP - George A. Atiyeh, P.O. Box 151, Mount Carmel, was cited Thursday by code officer Chris Petrovich for high grass and weeds at 1204 Hemlock St., a vacant lot.

Code violation

COAL TOWNSHIP - Richard C. Kerstetter, of 1010 E. Chestnut St., was cited for an occupancy violation at his home on Aug. 14 and also on Thursday, according to code officer Chris Petrovich.

Crash at Walmart

COAL TOWNSHIP - Ann Kane, 78, of 131 Centre St., Ashland, will be cited for a turning violation stemming from a two-car crash near Walmart Supercenter along Route 61 about 10 a.m. Saturday.

Patrolman Chris Lapotsky said Kane attempted to turn left into the Walmart parking lot and drove into the path of a southbound vehicle driven by Matthew Amarose, 47, of 321 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel.

Neither driver was injured, police say. Amarose's vehicle was towed.

Bike found

COAL TOWNSHIP - A men's bicycle was found Sunday at Gowen and Owl streets. The owner can claim it by calling police at 570-644-0333.

Car rolls

STONINGTON - Jamie Poeth, 35, of Kulpmont, escaped injury in a one-vehicle crash about 6 p.m. Sunday along Route 61 in Rockefeller Township, approximately one mile south of Carroll Road.

Trooper Wendy Keefer, state police at Stonington, says Poeth swerved to avoid striking a deer and drove off the highway. Her 2000 Ford Escort then rolled onto its roof.

Police say she was wearing a seat belt.
