Harassment

COAL TOWNSHIP - Roger Miller, 33, of 5 Fir St., Coal Township, was cited by Patrolman Chris Lapotsky for harassment involving a physical altercation at 5 p.m. Friday with his 31-year-old live-in girlfriend Rachel Graham.

Police reported Miller allegedly grabbed Graham by the hair, slapped her in the face and choked her. No injuries were reported.

Receives stolen property

SHAMOKIN - Michelle Denise Barrett, 41, of 228 S. Coal St., Shamokin, was arraigned at 10 a.m. Tuesday by Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III on two counts of receiving stolen property and one count of unauthorized use of a vehicle relating to the theft of a handgun and vehicle.

Barrett is charged by Shamokin Patrolman Raymond Siko II with being in possession of a Taurus .38-caliber handgun owned by Mark Anderson, of Rockport, Texas, and a stolen 2014 Ford Edge having a Louisiana registration plate. Police said the gun and rented sport utility vehicle were retained by Barrett without the owners' permission.

Barrett was committed to Northumberland County Prison in Sunbury in lieu of $5,000 bail.

Fire accidental

SUNBURY - City fire officials and a state police fire marshal have ruled that Thursday's blaze at an apartment building in the 500 block of Line Street was accidental and started in a second-story bedroom at 528 Line St. near an electrical fan.

Sunbury First Assistant Fire Chief Russ Wertz said damage is estimated at $60,000.

The two-alarm fire left seven people homeless in three dwelling units.
