DUI
SELINSGROVE - State police said they arrested Amanda Sue Carr, 25, of Sunbury, on suspicion of driving under the influence after she was stopped while driving her silver 2008 Dodge Caliber on Routes 11&15 near the Susquehanna Valley Mall, Monroe Township, at 2:17 a.m. Aug. 3.
Police said blood tests showed Carr's blood alcohol content was above the legal limit. Carr was charged by state police with two counts of DUI and traffic offenses in district court.
Theft/forgery
NEW CASTLE TOWNSHIP - State police said an unknown actor passed a counterfeit $100 bill at two stores at the Schuylkill Mall.
Bath and Body Works and Victoria's Secret reported to police that a counterfeit $100 bill was used to purchase items at their stores around 6 p.m. Saturday. Anyone with information is asked to contact state police in Frackville at 570-874-5300.
Bear vs. Wood
UNION TOWNSHIP - Connor J. Wood, 17, of Ringtown, escaped uninjured after his vehicle encountered a bear.
State police said Wood was traveling on Ringtown Boulevard in Union Township when a black bear jumped from the roadside embankment onto the travel lanes directly in front of his vehicle. Wood struck the bear with his 2007 Mazda 3 hatchback, and the bear ran off into the woods.
Woods, who was wearing his seat belt, was uninjured. His Mazda was heavily damaged and required towing, said police.
