One hurt in crash

SHAMOKIN - A Shamokin RD man is in stable condition after a two-car crash at 2 p.m. Monday on the 400 block of Sunbury Street.

Shamokin City Police Patrolman Shane Mowery said a vehicle driven by Louise Putnam, 74, of Shamokin, was facing east on Sunbury Street and stopped at a red light when an SUV, driven by Myron Wagner, 63, of Shamokin RD, was traveling west on Sunbury Street and passed through a red light. The vehicles collided and each was damaged on the driver's side.

Wagner's vehicle continued forward, jumping onto the sidewalk and striking a street sign and telephone pole before stopping against an apartment building at 405 E. Sunbury St.

Wagner was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital where he was listed in stable condition Tuesday afternoon. Putnam and Wagner's two passengers were not injured. Police said the investigation into the accident is continuing.
