Hit and run
COAL TOWNSHIP - Bruce Brosious, 23, of 26 N. Rock St., Shamokin, reported to Coal Township police that his 2001 Chevrolet Malibu was struck while parked next to the Mount Royal Mini-Mart building in Ranshaw about 10:30 a.m. Monday. The suspect vehicle may have been either gray or white in color. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.
Car hits restaurant
COAL TOWNSHIP - A Mount Carmel woman accidently drove into the Panda King restaurant on Friday, causing several large front windowpanes to shatter.
According to Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder, Eve Bender, 76, was parking an Acura coupe directly in front of the restaurant about 11:20 a.m. when the vehicle jumped the sidewalk and struck the building. No one was injured.
Grabs child
COAL TOWNSHIP - Roxanne Misner, 38, of 343 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, faces assault and related charged for allegedly grabbing a 7-year-old male by the throat and attempting to remove a necklace from him Thursday in the 1700 block of Tioga Street.
The juvenile was treated for pain to his neck and throat at Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital, Coal Township. He had previously resided with Misner, police said.
Misner was arrested in Mount Carmel on Saturday and arraigned by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones on Sunday. She is charged by Coal Township police with simple assault, disorderly conduct, harassment and endangering the welfare of a child. She is held at Northumberland County Prison, Sunbury, in lieu of $10,000 cash bail.
Fender-bender
COAL TOWNSHIP - Police say a Catawissa woman's 2013 Lexus sedan sustained minor damage to the driver-side bumper after colliding with another vehicle Saturday in the parking lot of Walmart Supercenter, Route 61.
According to Coal Township Patrolman Chad Yoder, Nancy Abraczinskas, 55, was backing out of a stall when her vehicle was struck by a Chevrolet Blazer driven by Tania Kerlin, 43, of Shamokin, who was backing out of a stall at the same time. No injuries were reported.
