Tools stolen

COAL TOWNSHIP - Township police report that sometime overnight between Wednesday and Thursday, someone removed a Stanley toolbox containing several tools and two DeWalt drills from an unlocked van owned by Rent A Center and parked outside the story at The Plaza at Coal Township.

Value of the items is estimated at $200. Anyone with information is asked to contact police at 570-644-0333.

One-vehicle crash

ZERBE TOWNSHIP - A Coal Township man was injured in a one-vehicle crash at 9:39 a.m. Monday on Route 225.

State police at Stonington said Vincent S. Pultynovich, 61, was driving a 2008 Jeep Commander south when it traveled off the right side of the road and the front end struck a utility pole. The Jeep then struck a steel guard that was protecting gas pumps at the Sunoco station and came to rest.

Pultynovich, who was wearing his seat belt, was taken to Geisinger-Shamokin Area Community Hospital for treatment. On Thursday, the day police issued this report, Geisinger said there was no record of him still being hospitalized.

Police cited Pultynovich for failing to keep his vehicle on the road.

Stolen, returned

WEST CAMERON TOWNSHIP - Tracy L. Smink, 49, of Shamokin, told state police at Stonington that sometime between 11 p.m. Tuesday and 1 a.m. Wednesday, a known suspect, a 22-year-old male from Sunbury, allegedly entered Smink's unlocked vehicle and stole her iPhone 4S cellular phone, valued at approximately $400. The phone was later returned to Smink's vehicle by unknown means.

Battery theft

DORNSIFE - William E. Long, 65, of Herndon, reported to state police at Stonington that sometime between 3 p.m. Monday and 4 p.m. Wednesday, someone removed four 12-volt batteries contained within lawn mowers on his property on Wolf Road, Washington Township.

Gas theft charge

COAL TOWNSHIP - David Segar, 53, of 1026 E. Packer St., Shamokin, was charged with theft by township Patrolman Chad Yoder after Segar allegedly failed to return to Miller's Gas and Oil and pay for $25 worth of gas he received June 16. The charge was filed with Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Shamokin.
