Snydertown crash
SNYDERTOWN - Margaret E. Weigold, 39, of Shamokin, suffered injuries in a two-car crash Friday at the intersection of Snydertown Road and Market Street in which five others escaped injury.
State police at Stonington reported Weigold, who was a front-seat passenger in a 2002 Pontiac Sunfire operated by Keith D. Roden, 48, of Shamokin, was transported by Americus Ambulance to Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, where she underwent emergency room treatment and was discharged Saturday, according to a nursing supervisor.
Beth L. McCarthy, 29, of Sunbury, the driver of a 2008 Honda Civic involved in the accident, Roden and three other passengers in his auto, Jacob A. Weigold, 21, of Shamokin, a 13-year-old Shamokin male and an 8-year-old boy from Shamokin escaped injury.
Police said the crash occurred at 5:25 p.m. as Roden was driving east on Snydertown Road when its front end collided with the right front of McCarthy's vehicle that was traveling west on Snydertown Road before making a left turn in front of Roden's vehicle.
After impact, both cars came to rest in the eastbound lane of Snydertown Road.
Police said both drivers and all passengers were wearing seat belts.
Roden's auto was towed from the scene. McCarthy's car sustained minor damage.
McCarthy was cited for a left turn violation.
Time capsule tampering
CENTRALIA - State police at Bloomsburg reported someone tampered with a time capsule on Centralia American Legion property between May 24 and Saturday.
Police said the actors arrived at the site with heavy equipment.
The time capsule was placed in 1966 and was scheduled to be opened in 2016.
Route 147 accident
UPPER AUGUSTA TOWNSHIP - No injuries were reported in a two-vehicle accident Friday at the intersection of Route 147 and Brush Valley Road in this Northumberland County township.
According to state police at Stonington, D.A. Ressler, 85, of Herndon, was driving south on Route 147 at 6:15 p.m. when his 2007 Chevrolet Silverado struck the rear of a 2005 Ford Focus operated by Matthew C. Brophy, 36, of Selinsgrove, as it was slowing down in front of him.
After impact, both vehicles came to rest off the southbound shoulder of Route 147.
Ressler, who was not wearing a seat belt, escaped injury. Brophy, who was wearing a seat belt, and his 5-year-old male passenger from Selinsgrove, who was in a child safety seat, also were not hurt.
Brophy's Focus was towed from the scene by Aurand's Towing. The truck sustained minor damage.
Ressler was cited for driving at an unsafe speed.
Tires cut
ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Lacie Michelle Derr, 25, of Sunbury, told state police at Stonington that someone cut the tires on her vehicle with an unknown object at about 4 p.m. Friday at 338 Carroll Road before fleeing in an unknown direction.
Tip jar money stolen
TREVORTON - State police at Stonington are investigating the theft of a tip jar containing approximately $125 from Hannah's Restaurant, 1142 W. Shamokin St., at 2 p.m. Wednesday.
