Dog owner cited

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police chief Todd Owens cited Daniel P. Yacobacci, 45, of 34 S. Maple St., on two counts of confinement of dogs stemming from an April 10 incident.

According to police, Yacobacci's two pit bulls got out of his yard and attacked two puppies that were being walked on a leash by their owner, causing injuries to both dogs. Shortly after the attack, the pit bulls attacked a Mount Carmel female who was walking her dog on a leash. The female's dog was also attacked, causing serious injuries to the dog.

All three dog victims required medical treatment at area veterinary hospitals.

The citations were filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel. Police were assisted in the investigation by state dog officer Richard Hine.

Simple assault

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Andrew Claude Moore Sr., of 1584 Captain Bloom Road, Sunbury, was charged by state police at Stonington with simple assault and harassment involving a physical altercation at his home at 10:35 a.m. Tuesday with a 24-year-old male who resides at the same address.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Ruben Alvarez, 32, of 545 Spruce St., Kulpmont, was cited for public drunkenness and disorderly conduct after an incident at 3:35 a.m. May 4 when, while on patrol, borough police officer Jason Drumheller observed Alvarez urinating on bushes on North Oak Street. Police said Alvarez displayed signs of intoxication and was taken into custody, and placed in Northumberland County Prison on a probation violation.

Retail theft

COAL TOWNSHIP - Kristen Thomas, 25, of Shamokin, was charged by Patrolman Matthew Hashuga with retail theft for allegedly stealing $135.43 in merchandise from Walmart Supercenter on Route 61 at 2:50 p.m. Tuesday.

Harassment

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police officer Jason Drumheller cited Crystal Marie Chatteron, 19, of 3179 N. Susquehanna Trail, Shamokin Dam, for harassment following an incident at 3:35 p.m. Sunday at a North Beech Street residence.

Police report that Chatteron and another person entered a mutual friend's residence and began to confront her over various rumors that were circulating. According to the victim, Chatteron then pushed her in the chest.

The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Scattering rubbish

COAL TOWNSHIP - Navarrete Ernesto Rojo, 47, of 1017 E. Hammond St., Fort Worth, Texas, was cited by Coal Township police for scattering rubbish.

Police said Rojo is accused of sweeping out his tractor-trailer at 2 p.m. Monday in a cul-de-sac near Reinhart's FoodService Warehouse off Route 901 after making a delivery to the business.

QOL citation

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough police cited Lance D. Glenney, 25, of 337 E. Seventh St., for violating the borough's quality of life ordinance.

Police said Glenney's dog defecated on his neighbor's property at 8:15 a.m. March 25 and at 7:13 p.m. March 26, and Glenney had to be instructed to clean it up.

Prior to the first incident, Glenney had been warned about his dogs by police. Glenney was then issued a quality of life violation for each offense, but did not respond, causing the citation, which was filed by borough police officer Matt Dillman.

Public drunkenness

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough patrolman Kevin Katch cited Tina Green, 45, of North Vine Street, Mount Carmel, with public drunkenness after an incident at 1:37 a.m. March 2 when police found Green lying on a snow pile near the intersection of Avenue and Vine Street. Police said Green smelled of alcohol and had trouble getting up and admitted to drinking.

Disorderly conduct

MOUNT CARMEL - Borough patrolman Kevin Katch cited Laurie Outlaw, 53, of East Fifth Street, with disorderly conduct after the victim and a witness stated to police a female threw a bag containing feces onto the victim's porch on South Apple Street.

Dogs at large

MOUNT CARMEL - BillieJean Gray-Snyder, 51, of 350 S. Vine St., was cited by borough police officer Jason Drumheller for violating the borough's ordinance of dogs running at large.

According to police, at 4:30 p.m. Monday, Gray-Snyder's pit bull was in the 200 block of West Seventh Street, attackin citizens who were passing by, according to witness accounts. The citation was filed with Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, of Mount Carmel.

Disorderly conduct

SHAMOKIN - Stormie Birster, 22, of Shamokin, was cited by Patrolman Scott Weaver for disorderly conduct in connection with a disturbance at 1:41 a.m. Sunday in the 200 block of West Willow Street in which she allegedly cursed.

Garbage accumulation

SHAMOKIN - Cpl. Bryan Primerano has cited Samantha Bell, 25, of 417 S. Coal St., Shamokin, for allowing garbage to accumulate in her rear and front yards at 1 a.m. Monday.

Guilty plea

MOUNT CARMEL - John David Gilbert, 46, of Mount Carmel, pleaded guilty Wednesday to one count of criminal trespass and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a $500 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year.

An additional count of criminal trespass was withdrawn.

Gilbert was charged by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski in connection with an April 8 disturbance at 422 N. Maple St.

DUI

SHAMOKIN - Kelley Nicole Green, 28, of 24 S. Third St., Shamokin, was charged by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to drive in a single lane, a turn signal violation and careless driving involving an April 19 traffic stop at East Sunbury and Liberty streets.

Police said Green had a blood-alcohol content of .219 percent.

DUI offenses

SHAMOKIN - Trooper Brian Ronk of state police at Stonington has charged Nicholas C. Villarreal, 45, of 219 E. Cameron St., Shamokin, with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, driving under suspension, driving without insurance, failing to activate his hazard lamps when stopped or disabled on a road, failure to wear a seat belt, driving without proper inspection and a tire tread violation.

The charges relate to an April 8 traffic stop on Spruce Street near Coal Street.

Police said Villarreal had a blood-alcohol content of .173 percent.

Theft charges

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - Matthew A. Chambers, 32, of 624 N. Third St., Sunbury, was charged by Cpl. George Ritchey of state police at Stonington with criminal mischief and two counts of theft involving an Aug. 3, 2012, incident along Dogwood Lane, approximately one-half mile from Route 61.

According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III, Chambers is accused of removing copper wire and pipe from the electrical and plumbing system at a vacant structure.

Total damage to the property is estimated at $850.
