SHAMOKIN - The following hearings took place Tuesday before Magisterial District Judge John Gembic III. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court June 23 in Northumberland County Courthouse, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.

n William L. McCollum, 33, of 146 S. Shamokin St., Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, making an abrupt right turn without activating his turn signal, failure to drive in a single lane, failure to obey traffic control devices, careless driving and failure to wear a seat belt.

The charges were filed by Trooper James Yankovich of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 9 incident at Market and Lincoln streets in Shamokin.

n David Charles Carper, 25, of 1800 Hosta Road, Paxinos, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving without proper registration, failure to possess a registration card, driving on the wrong side of the road, careless driving, failure to wear a seat belt and failure to drive in a single lane.

The charges filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington relate to a March 8 vehicle stop at the intersection of Routes 61 and 901 in Coal Township.

n Andrew Kevin Derck, 26, of 1317 W. Arch St., Coal Township, pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor of disorderly conduct and was ordered to pay a $200 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for six months.

A charge of possession of a small amount of marijuana was withdrawn.

The charge was filed by Trooper Justin Rosboschil of state police at Stonington in connection with a March 23 five-mile police chase that started at the intersection of Hospital Road and Route 61 at Tharptown and culminated when the truck Derck was a passenger in became disabled near Juniper and Owl streets in the west end of the township.

n Kendall L. Kehler, 34, of 130 E. Dewart St., Apt. 2, Shamokin, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, one count of driving under the influence of a controlled substance, hit and run and careless driving relating to a Dec. 14 accident in the 100 block of East Lincoln Street.

The charges were filed by Shamokin Cpl. Jarrod Scandle.

n Kimberly A. Olearnick, 27, of 240 S. Beech St., Mount Carmel, waived charges of criminal trespass, burglary and theft involving a Feb. 20 burglary at the home of Andrea Taylor, 1726 W. Chestnut St.

Police said Olearnick stole $30 in change from the residence.

The charges were filed by Coal Township Patrolman Joshua Wynn.

n Gerald Lee Bojanac, 26, of 405 E. Sunbury St., Shamokin, pleaded guilty to theft and was ordered to pay a $300 fine plus costs and placed on supervised probation for one year. Additional charges of access device fraud, criminal conspiracy and receiving stolen property were withdrawn.

A co-defendant in the case, Kenneth Elliott Jr., 24, of 1222 W. Willow St., Coal Township, waived to court charges of theft, receiving stolen property, criminal conspiracy and access device fraud.

Bojanac and Elliott were charged by Shamokin Patrolman William Zalinski with stealing a debit card from Jennifer Sands and withdrawing hundreds of dollars from an ATM without her knowledge Jan. 12.
