Electronics stolen
COAL TOWNSHIP - Matthew Stevens reported to Coal Township police a 55-inch television, a 32-inch television and a laptop computer were stolen from his apartment at 24 S. Sherman St. between 10:40 p.m. April 8 and 2:10 a.m. April 9. The items are valued at $3,100. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-644-0333.
Disorderly conduct
COAL TOWNSHIP - Brian Burke, 40, of 1130 Tharp St., was charged with disorderly conduct related to a property dispute at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 1100 block of Tharp Street.
Drug charges
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Ryan M. Boria, 25, of Reading, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with possession of a controlled substance, two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia, false swearing and false reports to police involving a vehicle stop Friday afternoon along Route 901 in Coal Township.
Police said Boria was found in possession of a silver key chain pill container filled with synthetic marijuana, a glass pipe with burnt residue, a small metal cleaning rod, a black zip bag filled with synthetic marijuana, an empty zip bag labeled Diablo 5 grams and a paper tablet with synthetic marijuana pieces.
DUI charges
MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Robert L. Miller Jr., 45, of 1252 Scott St., Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman David Stamets with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving, limitations on backing, depositing waste on highways, a stop sign violation, driving under suspension and restriction on alcoholic beverages.
The charges relate to a May 23, 2013, safety seat belt check in Marion Heights.
Police said Miller had a blood-alcohol content of .275 percent.
Access device fraud
MOUNT CARMEL - Charges of access device fraud, theft by unlawful taking, theft by deception and receiving stolen property were filed by Cpl. David Donkochik against Patricia Ann Suszko, 58, of 29 S. Walnut St., Mount Carmel.
According to a criminal complaint filed at the office of Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones, Suszko, who worked for Family Home Medical at the time of the offenses, is accused of cashing checks she stole from a 97-year-old borough woman in her care and withdrawing money from the victim's account through an automatic teller machine. Police said a total of $3,030.39 was stolen from the victim between Oct. 1 and Feb. 27.
Theft charges
MOUNT CARMEL - Ashley Marie Knopp, 25, of 229 W. Seventh St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with theft, receiving stolen property and criminal conspiracy.
Police said Knopp is accused of stealing several hundred pounds of scrap metal valued at approximately $700 from Lapinski Lumber Company at Seventh and Vine streets between Dec. 11 and Dec. 24.
Simple assault
MOUNT CARMEL - Chastity Dewees, 33, of 343 S. Oak St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Chief of Police Todd Owens with two counts of simple assault and one count of harassment involving an April 10 disturbance at her residence.
Police reported Dewees grabbed Roxanne Lee Misner by the neck, threw her to the ground, choked her and hit her head off the floor several times.
On Wednesday, Dewees pleaded guilty to harassment and was ordered by Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones to pay a fine and costs totaling $456. The two counts of simple assault were withdrawn.
