Disorderly conduct

KULPMONT - Elizabeth Pankotai, 27, of 1267 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, was cited by Chief of Police Michael Pitcavage for disorderly conduct relating to a child custody dispute Monday afternoon in the 800 block of Spruce Street.

Corruption of minors

HERNDON - An investigation is continuing into allegations an unidentified 18-year-old male contacted two females, ages 10 and 12, Wednesday via text messages and Facebook, requesting them to perform sexual acts.

Driver not hurt

ROCKEFELLER TOWNSHIP - Donald E. Paul, 28, of Sunbury, escaped injury Thursday morning in a one-car accident along Cherry Street (Route 4024) in this Northumberland County township.

State police at Stonington reported Paul was driving a 1998 Chevrolet Lumina west shortly before 7 a.m. when his car exited the right side of the road and hit a ditch with its right front end. After impact, the auto struck a culvert with its undercarriage at the end of a driveway.

The vehicle then continued to travel along the north side of the road and hit two mailboxes with its right side before coming to rest on the north shoulder.

Police said Paul was wearing a seat belt.

His car was towed from the scene and he was cited for failing to maintain his vehicle on the road.

Forgery

SHAMOKIN TOWNSHIP - State police at Stonington said an unidentified 47-year-old Danville man allegedly stole a Visa debit card from a residence in Shamokin Township Jan. 31 and used it to make a $20 purchase in Sunbury.

Police said the suspect forged the name of the victim, Christopher A. Burgess, of Sunbury, on the receipt during the transaction.

An investigation is continuing.

Access device fraud

PAXINOS - State police at Stonington reported Robert James Shiko, 49, of Paxinos, fell victim to a telephone scam Thursday, when he provided $3,000 to an unknown individual.

Hit and run

COAL TOWNSHIP - Police here reported a vehicle involved in a hit-and-run accident March 15 along Route 125 just south of Burnside should be a 2001, 2002 or 2003 Ford Focus that sustained moderate to severe damage.

Police said the car was traveling south when it crossed the road and struck a Verizon utility pole and several pieces of wooden fence owned by George Jones of Burnside. The driver then fled the scene.

Police previously reported a green plastic bumper from the car was found at the scene.

Multiple offenses

MOUNT CARMEL - Dennis D. Phinazee, 45, of 319 S. Vine St., Mount Carmel, was charged by Cpl. David Donkochik with endangering the welfare of a child, recklessly endangering another person, reckless driving, a stop sign violation and failure to wear a seat belt.

Police said Phinazee was pulled over by Donkochik after traveling at a high rate of speed on South Vine Street March 5 with a 6-year-old boy and 4-year-old girl in the car.

DUI

MOUNT CARMEL TOWNSHIP - Joseph M. Barnyock, 69, of Branchdale, was charged by Patrolman Daniel Politza with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, careless driving and failure to drive in a single lane relating to a Jan. 12 accident on Route 901 at the "S Turn" near Locust Gap.

Police said Barnyock had a blood-alcohol content of .170 percent.

Retail theft

KULPMONT - Eric J. Janoka, 33, of 622 Scott St., Apt. C, Kulpmont, was charged by Patrolman Patrick McAndrew with retail theft for allegedly stealing three packs of cigars from Fuel-On March 12.

Ordinance violations

COAL TOWNSHIP - Thomas E. Broscious, of 1516 Pulaski Ave., was cited Friday by Code Enforcement Officer Chris Petrovich for allowing faulty weather protection at his home.

Police said the roof of the residence has several holes, allowing water to enter the building. The main roof of the structure has broken and rotted covering.
