Rear-ender
FRACKVILLE - One driver suffered what state police described as a minor injury in a rear-end crash near the Schuylkill Mall about 4:50 p.m. Saturday.
According to state police at Stonington, Kristina M. McCarthy, 19, of Mahanoy Plane, was driving a 1993 Ford Taurus and attempting to merge onto Route 61 South from the mall's on-ramp when her vehicle was rear-ended by a 2007 Ford Explorer driven by David L. Boyer, 33, of Ashland.
McCarthy suffered a minor injury while Boyer was not injured. Police said both drivers were wearing seat belts.
Both vehicles were towed.
Boyer was issued a traffic citation, driving a vehicle at an unsafe speed.
8 DUI arrests
SUNBURY - State police arrested eight people for impaired driving at a sobriety checkpoint Friday night on Route 61 at the city's eastern border.
Ten summary traffic arrests were made and a wanted person was taken into custody and jailed at Northumberland County Prison.
The checkpoint was conducted by troopers of the Stonington, Milton and Selinsgrove stations.
Missing wallet
HUMMELS WHARF - Mackenzie Brouse, 18, of Paxinos, told state police at Selinsgrove that a Vera Bradley wallet she left behind inside a changing room at the American Eagle store in the Susquehanna Valley Mall about 7:45 p.m. Saturday went missing. Anyone with information is asked to call police at 570-374-8145.
