Fight charges due
SHAMOKIN - Chief of Police Edward Griffiths reported Tuesday that six adults will be charged soon in connection with a fight at about 4:25 p.m. Saturday in the first block of South Market Street.
The chief said four of the adults are from Shamokin, one from Coal Township and one from Philadelphia.
Police from Shamokin, Coal Township and Ralpho Township were summoned to break up the disturbance.
DUI charge
WEST CHILLISQUAQUE TOWNSHIP - David Paul Janaskie, 25, of Sunbury, was charged by state police at Milton with driving under the influence of alcohol following a traffic stop at 12:35 p.m. Saturday at the intersection of Routes 45 and 147 in this Northumberland County township.
Car hits deer
BARRY TOWNSHIP - Kathleen J. Purcell, 56, of Coal Township, escaped injury Tuesday morning when her car struck a deer along Route 901 near Beury's Road in this Schuylkill County township.
State police at Stonington reported Purcell was driving a 2011 Hyundai Accent east in the right lane at 6:20 a.m. when a deer entered the road from the east shoulder. Police said Purcell's auto hit the deer in the eastbound lane. The car came to rest along the shoulder of the highway.
Her vehicle was towed from the scene by A&F Automotive.
Police said Purcell was wearing a seat belt.
