Stolen gas

SHAMOKIN - Douglas Lance Hatzel, 49, of 1206 Friedline Road, Danville, is charged by Patrolman Scott Weaver with retail theft and theft by deception for allegedly filling a vehicle with gasoline and driving off without paying on five different occasions at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 501 N. Second St.

The first incident reportedly occurred in June. On the fifth incident, alleged to have occurred Dec. 31, the license plate number on a 2011 Chevrolet was recorded and used by police to identify Hatzel. Clerks at the convenience store also identified Hatzel, police said.

Retail value of the stolen gasoline is $270.26.

Trash pile

SHAMOKIN - Brian K. Seebold, 52, of 813 N. Washington St., was cited by Cpl. Darwin Tobias III for violating the city's ordinance on sanitary conditions for allegedly allowing garbage to be dumped in a back yard at 506 N. Second St.

Tobias photographed the yard Monday and included it with the citation, and also remarked that Seebold had been cited for the same offense on Jan. 22 but the garbage had not been removed.

Retail thefts

Five area residents were cited by Coal Township and Shamokin police for retail theft in unrelated incidents.

Dorothy Brenneman, 32, of Ashland, is accused of stealing $408.85 in unspecified merchandise Jan. 16 from Walmart Supercenter, Route 61.

Edward L. Balch, 18, of Mount Carmel, is accused of stealing a coat Jan. 17 at Walmart. Police said Balch left the coat he had worn into the store on a rack, put on a brand new coat and walked to the courtesy desk. He returned that coat, valued at $54.48, without a receipt.

April Heckman, 28, of Shamokin, is accused of stealing a cell phone case valued at $29.88 from Walmart on Jan. 21.

Coal Township Patrolman Matthew Hashuga filed the citations in the incidents at Walmart.

Patrick K. Gearhart, 26, of 211 Third St., Ranshaw, is accused of stealing unspecified merchandise at 3:42 p.m. Jan. 8 from Dollar General, 30 E. Independence St.

Donna Marie Shaffer, 36, of 44 Adams St., is accused of concealing multiple packs of cigarettes before stealing them at 1:50 a.m. Dec. 25 at Turkey Hill Minit Market, 501 N. Second St.

Both incidents were recorded on surveillance cameras, according to Patrolman Scott Weaver, who filed the citations.

Loud noises

SHAMOKIN - Jesika McCann, 22, of 1008 N. Pearl St., was cited by Cpl. Bryan Primerano for disorderly conduct for allegedly shouting obscenities inside her home loud enough to be heard outdoors at 2:44 a.m. Sunday.

Vandalism

COAL TOWNSHIP - James Dangler, 34, of 931 W. Pine St., reported Tuesday that someone broke the rear window on his Chevy truck within the past two weeks by apparently shooting it with a BB gun.
