Two-vehicle crash

NORTH MANHEIM TOWNSHIP - An Ashland teen and his passenger were flown to Geisinger Medical Center, Danville, following a two-vehicle crash at 2:51 p.m. Saturday on Route 443 at the intersection with North Greenview Road in North Manheim Township.

State police at Schuylkill Haven say a 2002 Mitsubishi Lancer, driven by Mason White, 16, of Ashland, was traveling south on Greenview Road and approaching the intersection with Route 443. Police say the Lancer failed to follow the stop sign and entered the intersection, and was struck broadside on the passenger side by a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado, driven by Derek Hartranft, 24, of New Ringgold.

After the impact, the Lancer traveled down an embankment on the south berm of the road. White and his passenger, Monty L. Maser, 33, of Alburtis, were flown from the scene to Geisinger Medical Center, where  White is listed in fair condition and Maser is in serious condition. Both Hartranft and his passenger, Megan E. Dove, 22, of New Ringgold were also injured in the crash.

Assisting police at the scene were members of the Orwigsburg Fire and Rescue units and local fire police, Life Flight and MediVac helicopters.
