MOUNT CARMEL - The following hearings took place Wednesday before Magisterial District Judge Hugh Jones. Defendants ordered to appear for plea court March 17 in Northumberland County Court, Sunbury, can plead guilty or no contest, or seek a trial by pleading not guilty.
- Joseph L. Aiello, 30, of 651 W. Fifth St., Mount Carmel, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving with a suspended license and driving a vehicle without registration relating to a Nov. 27 traffic stop at Fifth and Maple streets.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Patrolman Shane Reamer.
- Ronald J. Ramsdale, 32, of 2035 Walnut St., Ashland, waived charges of possessing a firearm without a license, possession with intent to deliver a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance, driving under the influence of a controlled substance or a combination of drugs and two counts of possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Matthew Filarski relate to an Oct. 27 traffic stop on Route 901 across from Patterson Block.
- Shannon B. McGinley, 18, of Hickory Street, Mount Carmel, waived charges of theft by extortion and criminal attempt to commit extortion.
She is charged by Mount Carmel Patrolman Justin Stelma with trying to extort $100 from Michael VanBourgondien in exchange for dropping charges against him.
Police said the incident began Sept. 11 when McGinley accused VanBourgondien of a crime and called police. Borough Police Chief Todd Owens said the incident is still under investigation.
- Joseph R. Brodie, 34, of 1213 Chestnut St., Kulpmont, waived three counts of driving under the influence of alcohol or a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and failure to drive in a single lane involving an Oct. 10 accident in the 100 block of Chestnut Street.
Kulpmont Police Chief Michael Pitcavage filed the charges.
Brodie also waived charges of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of marijuana, failure to drive in a single lane, a high-beam violation and a turning violation.
The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Grow in connection with an Aug. 31 traffic stop at the intersection of Route 54 and Quarry Road.
- Michael G. Cobin, 65, of 2351 Stetler Drive, Coal Township, waived two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol and damage to unattended property involving a Dec. 7 accident at 293 Overlook Blvd. in which his vehicle struck trees several times and caused $1,524 damage to landscaped property.
The charges were filed by Ralpho Township Patrolman Chris Dailey.
- Nathan J. Reigle, 37, of 905 W. Willow St., Coal Township, waived charges of misbranding a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Officer Kelly Campbell in connection with a June 6 incident in the 100 block of Columbia Avenue in Atlas.
- Michael B. Laskowski Jr., 36, of 926 W. Walnut St., Coal Township, waived charges of burglary, theft, receiving stolen property and criminal trespass involving a Dec. 24 burglary at the home of Jonathan and Josephine Stroh, 333 E. Warsaw St., Marion Heights.
The charges were filed by Mount Carmel Township Patrolman Kelly Campbell.
